2026 Tahoe with 6.2, im all good?

I can say that when changing oil at 3500 miles, the oil is shearing below the expected viscosity grade. So start with 0W20 and run it for 7500 miles and have some fuel dilution, your guess is what you end up with. I would love to see an oil sample from an early 6.2l failure under 5k miles with...

2026 Tahoe with 6.2, im all good?

Not sure that will happen . The 0W40 approval is conditional due to the lack of 0W40 availability. But I would run any of the PUP regardless of approval.

2026 Tahoe with 6.2, im all good?

See my comments in this post, while PUP 0W20 and 5W30 are not included 0W40 is. This is a recent turn of events for Pennzoil. https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/best-oil-filter-for-tahoe-z71-2019-midnight-edition.157742/page-2#post-2040790

2026 Tahoe with 6.2, im all good?

Yup you seem to understand. With fuel dilution and the extreme bearing loads due to high torque low RPM operation, the oil is just beaten into submission. The lower the RPM the more difficult it is to sustain an oil wedge, especially with thin engine oils. Causing frequent mixed and boundary...

Best Oil Filter for Tahoe Z71 2019 Midnight Edition

FYI, PUP 0W40 has recently been Dexos R approved. My understanding is because the run on 0W40 for GM vehicles, GM allowed Pennzoil to get the Dexos approval for the interim without jumping thru all the hoops and they may not be paying the licensing fee at the moment. I believe they have a year...

2026 Tahoe with 6.2, im all good?

The crankshaft finish was not really the problem. Plenty of post July 2024 6.2l builds still failing. More that acceptable levels of 2025-2026 6.2l failing, many before the first oil change, not so different than the 2022-2024 models. Again the earlier crank issue is not the primary cause of the...

2026 Tahoe with 6.2, im all good?

You gotta love AI. You do understand a few things, these engines already have oil squirters that spray oil on the underside of the pistons to cool them. Sure these may not spray directly on the cylinder walls, but there is already a fair amount of oil being sprayed upward toward the cylinders...

2026 Tahoe with 6.2, im all good?

Bearings degrading have very little to do with oil consumption. The type of driving and operating conditions factors into oil consumption more than anything. Cold climates with a higher percentage of fuel dilution and sustained highway driving and/or heavy loads or towing play a factor in oil...

    Rattling Second Row Seat

Have not dove in head first yet, but after hitting the top of the seat with my fist the noise appears to be at the right rear seat track area. Maybe at the catch, bit really seems like there is sloop in the right rear portion of the sliding seat track. Need some dedicated time to dive into...

    Died at 70mph on I-75

@LsHart Transmission problems are almost all valve body problems. OE valve bodies are trash. NextGen Drivetrain has valve body upgrade kits, but even with this you need an aftermarket trans pan with a drain and perform a drain and refill of the trans every 15-20k max IMHO. You did not mention...

    Rattling Second Row Seat

@cmatt Thanks for posting the pictures of the shims. I originally thought this may be my problem, but when I looked at my seats, some of these shims were installed during the seat frame assembly and what I found was there did not seem to be play in the hinge area, so I skipped this as a...

    Rattling Second Row Seat

Thanks for the reply, I'll check the heat shield because it's easy but the sound clearly sounds like it's from the seat seat in the cabin when the seat's not locked in the upright position and nobody sitting in. But stranger things have happened!

    Rattling Second Row Seat

@jjobev, Did the noise go away is someone was sitting in the seat or if the seat was folded? My situation is likely the seat or something inside based on the sound and the fact that if someone sits in the seat or the seat is folded there is no noise.

The OP had a failure on a 2026 and a few people mention they had 2025 failures as well. So the crankshaft machining improvement story was only a partial story or GM is really freaking clueless. New replacement builds and 2025 and 2026 engines are still failing at an abnormally high rate.

Pay careful attention to a few things. 1. Main bearings are coated. Notice the upper main bearing shells still has some sort of permanent marker still on them. Little to no wear on these. Not sure the lower main bearings were shown, I would have to fully re-watch the entire video. 2. Rod...

*fixed*Antifreeze leak present for 3 days gone the next

Given the age of the vehicle, might be time to replace the heater hosed and the plastic "T" fittings at the firewall assuming your have rear a rear heater core. The plastic gets brittle over time and will let go typically without warning. Just recently replaced all of mine, the one near the AC...

    Rattling Second Row Seat

What I need to do is climb in the back and have my son or wife drive the car and try and narrow in on the problem. I bet there are far more folks with the 2nd row captain chair rattle, but have either ignored it or just not gotten around to resolving the problem. Not sure if the problem is with...

    Higher mile L87

While you may not be able to make out the smallest particles trapped by an oil filter, at some point enough material is trapped in the filter you will notice it building up due to discoloration in the filter media. Under 20 micros you will not be able to really see these, 30 micros maybe yes...

And at the end of the day, I believe all these 6.2l L87 failures are not due to one single issue, I believe it is a multitude of problems that add up and under the correct conditions can be catastrophic. Some of the possible problems, each is probably only a partial contributor 1. Improper...

No, what I am saying is the oil filter base plate on the AC Delco PF63 has 13 large inlet holes. All the aftermarket filters and the AC Delco Gold filters have far fewer and smaller oil inlet holes stamped in the baseplates. Why, only GM knows?? Are the larger holes for better oiling on cold...

    Higher mile L87

If the filter traps if, you can easily see it. If the filter traps it, the particles will not be circulating, BUT if there are particles in the oil filter then something is not going well and even Oil Analysis will not detect debris in the filter. If your eyes are not so good, use a magnifying...

    Died at 70mph on I-75

I cannot say this plays into the problem 100%, however, I do have some suspicion that the oil filter restrictions can play into oil starvation on the 6.2l with the 2 stage electrically controlled oil variable displacement oil pump. If the oil filter is restrictive the variable displacement oil...
