    DIY headlamp restoration

Having lights on is not impactful. The damage is on the outside. If lights on made it worse, we would not have access to fix it. It's UV damage to the original protective coating. I've used Cerakote ( $18 ish on Amazon ). Been very happy - lasted 3 years in So Cal, which is harder than NY...

Yukon braking when i press the accelerator in first gear.

check all fluid levels - transmission could be low. Check underneath for overall condition of frame, gas lines, brake lines - check for rust. If you are in a salt belt area, that needs to be understood. Also, as these get to higher mileage, the front hubs wear out, and you get low speed (...

'04 Yukon XL 2500 autoride shocks source?

I understood it the same - add resistors to free you up to use shocks of your choice. But on the 1500's the rear spring rate for sure needs to match the new shock. I was never happy with the ride in the front after the front autorides were gone. not seeing Z55 was a good point on the 2500.

2001 Tahoe Leaking Sunroof *not drains*

maybe it's missing more than the shade. My 01 was fussier than the 02 to water ( Both are Mexico Trucks ( Sept 00 for the 01, and Feb 02 for the 02 ). does it leak when you have it in vent position ( popped at the back )? I'll look at mine tonight

    0W-20 to 0W-40?

I am glad that I am not in that movie. Just my 2 cents voting for Mobil-1 products. I run 5/30 or 5/40 year round. and have since 2002 on the first truck. I've used Mobil-1 overall since about 1990 - anyone remember round cans that needed a spout?

'04 Yukon XL 2500 autoride shocks source?

so, you are z55 autoride for a 2500 - which is different from z55 autoride for a 1500. I had a 1500. Leaf springs, and a different shock. I think that's gonna be hard. I don't know how the spring are different. I have a 2500 with z85 - if you can't get shocks, maybe go for z85 springs and...

07+ Brake upgrade on a 00-06 NBS, is it worth it?

Same - when I did this to the 01 1500 XL, it was just calipers and rotors. Lines, Master, all left alone ( Upgraded to flex stainless lines, but for regular 01 calipers )

2005 Yukon factory radio- time memory?

I keep an 8mm box wrench in the fuse box that is next to the battery. That has been there for years. I've had good luck with AGM's. I had 3 Optima Red tops - in the 1500 XL - 2004 - 2011, 2011 - 2020, 2020 - 2023 ( when he left me due to frame rot ). in both trucks ( 2001 and 2002 ), I get a...

Converting side mount to top mount for battery

once I got away from OE GM batteries, I've had no issues - I am running interstate now. I've also done Optima. I would run a lead to the positive - get a good + wire, and run it to a separate junction - fused. then run your lights and relays from there.

    Transmission or TCM Dead?

I have to look underneath. I see there is a 4L60e part, but now I understand how it should look ( I went to 270K in my 4L60 with no issues, but that is really troubling )

    Volt meter reading 13 volts

It's worth checking - as said above, with a real voltage meter. But, mine went from 14+ to 13, was like that for a week, then the alternator gave up on the road. Close enough to home, but it's worth looking. The voltage gauge is not necessarily 100% accurate, but changes in behavior are worth...
