Hard shift into reverse may be due to a removed low/reverse check ball which is common practice for those units. Your clunck/bind condition may be worn T-case chain as you suspect...I am not familiar with T-cases as I've only rebuilt a handful but the NP246 chains can wear. I believe you can put...
Brand New Transmission = OEM General Motors (no non-GM upgrades like billet pistons, etc): 3 yr/100k mile warranty, whichever comes first
Overhauled Transmission Upgraded as per your requirements, application and intended usage: Varies based on where you go.
My advice: Find a competent...
Gotcha...Being in the German Auto space, you probably weren't aware...Unfortunately, it's a hard lesson all to many have to learn...Monster pours an enormous amount of resources into marketing/advertising and seemingly very little in comparison to the production/QC space. They've done all the...
So why did you choose Monster to begin with? Asking as it's quite surprising to me whenever I hear folks knowingly choosing to buy one of their transmissions given all of the failures/high failure rate with their products. So am trying to understand what keeps people going back to them over and...
Hmmm...Why did you have Monster rebuild your transmission???
To your issue now: Limp mode in these transmissions is 3rd and reverse (manual 2nd than manual upshift to third)...It is always caused by a loss of voltage signal or communication between ECM and transmission for at least one node...
Fitzall has the 2004+ valve that is designed to work with VVT/AFM equipped vehicles as it's spring loaded and allows for some movement, unlike the versions for non-AFM engine applications. Not sure what the 'Sonnax copy spring' is but Sonnax has a full valve/spring kit that comes in their HP1...
Not likely as TSBs are typically very specific when it comes to documenting impacted engine-transmission configurations. In this case, the problem is in the factory transmission control strategy/OS version loaded onto the ECM and TEHCM respectively which would be different between 5.3 and 6.2...
Bumping up the thread to bring awareness around potential counterfeit 4L60E parts on eBay..Customer of mine built his transmission, did everything correctly except was not able to vac test due to not having the equipment. So he sent his valve body to me for testing and I found this fugazi...
@testdepth - those numbers look good to me...At least we know your pressure regulator valve is in good shape, the pump is making pressure and the valve body's AFL valve is not worn either. Next step is to plug in the scanner to see if your TCC is coming on when it's not supposed to...If tests...
You need to do a full diagnosis, including engine management, ignition (including your ignition switch or equivalent), fuel delivery as well as transmission and torque converter. One symptom of failing converter/converter apply circuit in the transmission is stalling out, especially in reverse...
Go to my "6L80 Info Thread", page 1 post 1 and scroll down to the link to the ATSG manual. There are some instructions covering pressure testing on the 6L80/90.
Make sure you are using a transmission pressure gauge, not an engine oil gauge.
Symptoms sound like extremely worn pressure regulator valve in the pump. The PR valve is not accessible with the trans in the vehicle.
Once it has been sitting overnight, put a mechanical transmission pressure gauge on the unit, fire it up and let us know what your pressures are at idle in P...
3-4 clutch is going out. 90% of all 4L60Es that come in for overhaul are on the bench due to 3-4 clutch pack failure.
Drop the pan and see what's at the bottom. If you see a lot of black, burnt clutch material, put the pan back on with a few bolts and yank it for overhaul.
This can happen if the TC's converter clutch apply piston is not functioning and the TC continues to slip, building heat outside of the design limits...That said, it's super rare and usually impacts all of the applied elements in the case, not just one. But the 4-5-6 clutch is very vulnerable...
You already found it. Now it's time to fix it...
Completely clean the bore, removing all traces of fluid and other contaminant. Then reinsert the valves dry. Conduct a vacuum test. If your reading is higher than 22Hg, the valve is a bit too tight in the bore. Polish the bore with a bench buddy...
Maybe, maybe not. Grab a bidirectional scan tool, plug it in and take it for a test drive. See what gears are being commanded. If a 2-3 upshift is being commanded by the PCM but it's not happening (or if it's not happening even when you command a shift) then the cause is either shift sol B is...
Just buy the Sonnax Zip kit for the 6L80/90 - it will have everything you would want to install into the valve body...There will be a couple parts for the pump but you won't be able to install those unless you pull the trans, remove and partially disassemble the pump.
If the vehicle is a 2007...
Go to your local GM dealership's parts department, give the counter guy the last eight digits of your VIN and he will sell you the correct parts you need. You will use 7 check balls as you have a gen1 spacer plate...a 2nd design plate was introduced in 2010 and third design with the 8th check...
Did you mean to quote me? If so, perhaps in error?
Also, to clarify: are you saying there is nothing linking the selector shaft on the transmission to the column or floor shifter, such as a shift cable?
