    My experience as well - I've had 3 5.3's and 2 6.2's. My 2021 Tahoe HC with the 6.2l got better mileage than my dad's Z71 Tahoe with the 5.3 (both were 4x4 vehicles).

    I would give an independent shop a try. Mine charges me about a third of that for the tranny filter and fluid.

    I check my computer with a calculator most time I fill up my 2021 HC 6.2L. It is just about always dead on the number or within a tenth of a mpg. I can't say my 2015 or 2007 were even close to that accurate.

    There is an "auto" 4wd setting that would probably work well for what you describe. Pretty much the only time I throw my truck in 4 low is when I'm in mud. It also turns off traction control which is probably why you felt a wheel slipping like you describe.

    For what it's worth, I've had 3 4WD Tahoes and 1 4wd F150 - all of them acted this way in 4 low. 4 low is meant for low traction situations where you need max torque. Be careful using it in situations with high traction as you can damage the system.

    There is probably a real weight difference in the 2wd rental and the 4wd you test drove and trim can also make a weight difference. You also make a good point about the computer retarding timing for inadequate octane. I also agree that a 2wd rental may have different gearing than a 4wd vehicle...

    What color is your Tahoe? Same thing happened to my black 2015 Tahoe and my dad's black 2016 Tahoe. GM offered virtually no assistance so I went to Ford for a couple years, now I'm back in a white (pearl) Tahoe. The white paint seems to be holding up well.

    Could it be the tires? Good quality road tires compared to lower quality all terrains can be a noticeable difference.

    Hello again...

    I like my 2021 better than my 2015. It's a bigger vehicle than the 2015 but it still handles as good or better, and the additional size makes the interior more comfortable. It's also a better tow vehicle.

    Both my 2015 (5.3L) and my 2021 (6.2L) consumed oil when using the recommended 0-20W oil. Both almost completely stopped consuming oil when I switched to 30 weight oil.

    Damaged high country grill

    Fair point. The bumper does have a few knicks but they aren't visible in the picture. The black spots you see are love bugs - one of the not so great parts of living in Florida. I'm not sure what the discoloration is directly under the hole in the grill but it is not visible in person.
