I installed the PPE pan, changed the filter and filled with Amsoil ULV. The 65k mile fluid I drained out was on the darker side but didn’t smell burnt. Didn’t smell fresh either. I was a little surprised to see the bolts holding the filter were not the silver E10 bolts I’ve seen in videos. They...
Yesterday I swapped the transmission pan to PPE, changed the filter and added fresh fluid. Another all day job. Doing this on jack stands really slows things down but it’s doable.
I always try to go through a few videos of people doing the job so I know what to expect and tools to have so I made sure I got the 36mm socket. My little 5 gallon compressor is too small to run air tools but Milwaukee M12 stubby and a couple ratchets get me through.
Great to know. Do you have any tips for install on the Belltech spindles? Were the ball joints difficult to separate? I’m planning to install the Belltech kit along with the Hellwig front bar very soon. I already have the rear.
I thought of doing this but I don’t think it would work. The exhaust will move in unison with the transmission. I checked by watching a video where a guy replaced the transmission mount. I noticed the exhaust moved right along with it.
I plan to tackle the transmission pan swap later this...
UPDATE: Ride height trim reset is a must!
The difference between the worn struts and new struts is major. After driving for a while with the new struts, I started to feel like something just wasn’t right. Some impacts were still just too harsh. I added a Hellwig rear sway bar shortly after the...
I watched that interview with The Car Guy and the Next Gen engineer the other day which led me to this thread after researching the issue. Just when I thought I was done spending money on this truck, I find out about this and I’m now considering the upgrade. It’s either dump money into this...
The new Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent has really good reviews. It’s an on road all terrain so it prioritizes highway noise and comfort. It still has the aggressive look just not quite as aggressive as some of the off road all terrains suggested. You have to sacrifice some noice for the bigger...
This is more of an informational post for those that will be replacing their worn Magnaride struts and shocks with OEM.
Over the past few months I noticed my ride quality decrease severely. The ride began to feel like a low rider’s hydraulics or a carriage ride as some others have described...
I just changed all of my dampers last week. The rears actually didn’t give me much trouble. I used a box end on the outside nut with a deep socket and 3 inch extension on the bolt from the inside. On the passenger side I went above the wiring harness but below the A/C lines. I didn’t full remove...
How are these holding up for you guys? I’m planning to order a set and swap them when I do the struts. They look like they will hold up much better than the stock mounts.
