01 Tahoe 5.3 tick then goes away

All things worth checking Got a chance to watch the video with some better speakers. Honestly, sounds almost like some gnarly piston slap to me. Real easy way to isolate if it's rod knock vs. anything else: Go to the parts store, grab the cheapest 20w50 they have and throw that in there for...

01 Tahoe 5.3 tick then goes away

Yup Threw me for a loop shortly after I got my rig. Sounds like a ticking lifter at idle. Roughly the proper cadence. When revved, accessory noise drowns it out. Then it 'comes back' when idle is resumed.

    4l65E stock or added later?

Stop talking I'm at 175k. Original 4l60e. This is fine. :poker:

01 Tahoe 5.3 tick then goes away

I'm going to come at this from a slightly different angle Could you verify that the sound isn't the evap purge solenoid? Unplug the electrical connector from this thing. It's normal for it to sound like a ticking lifter.

No brakes, just changed hydroboost gaskets/o rings

When you say you have no brakes, could you clarify what that means? Pedal goes to floor? No assist? Other?

    Yikes! Coolant Reservoir Hose Detached

Ding ding It's just there to direct overflow in the event of an overheat/overfill. Drain it safely to ground rather than risking it splashing onto a hot exhaust mainfold

Tahoe dies out while driving not all the time. What's going on???

Brain dumping: If I name off a part you've already replaced, I read your post. But.... You've replaced a lot of things and it's still being funny. And I don't quite hold a high degree of trust in new parts any more. Always verify. - Fuel pump or fuel pump controller, depending on your year...

Ding ding Pulled it out, pinned it. I could shake it and it would get upset New one in, mischief solved Love you guys! Just in time for the rain to show up

Nope, immediate off. DIC prompts 'driver door open' whenever put into gear

Switching the vehicle settings from at-speed to in-gear seem to take it from a lock-loop, to an unlock-loop What in tarnation

Lock lock lock lock lock lock lock LOCK LOCK LOCK LOCK LOCK

Oops I fat fingered my phone and hit post instead of new line Only happens in motion, at speed. Seems to be aggravated by certain bumps / leans in the road, though I've not been able to put together a pattern.

Lock lock lock lock lock lock lock LOCK LOCK LOCK LOCK LOCK

I've had a back burner issue on my rig where the DIC would display driver's door open. Was hoping to wait until the weather got nice But.... Today, it decided to go full yeehaw into dummy land. The doors seem like they're stuck in a lock loop, with the DIC continuing to display the message...

200K+ club what oil you run in the heat ??

Not 200k... Yet.... But I run some euro-spec 0w-40 year-round (thinner 40w oil with good viscosity-temp characteristics. Actually flows better than 5w30 when cold). From negs, to triple digits. I don't believe in putting "thicker" oil in for the summer. The engine isn't air cooled. It keeps its...

Looking for Testimonials Re: HM Oil

Idk I think high mileage oils are kinda dumb. If you have a leak, fix it. The seal is past it's service life and trying to throw a bunch of swelling additives in there is just going to make you a slave to that specific oil. I run castrol euro 0w40 in mine. Motor likes it, lab tests back it...

    2005 Tahoe Ticking

Pop off the beauty cover on top of your intake Unplug the evap purge solenoid on the top-front of the intake manifold. Is the noise still present?

    Power steering loss ?

I mean Realistically, there's one of 2 things going on 1. The fluid in there doesn't like cold temps. Would be unusual, but not unheard of. Power steering honestly isn't that sensitive of a system. I'm a big proponent of synthetic fluids. 2. Level is either too high or too low. A bubble or two...

    Power steering loss ?

What happens if you check fluid level now, before starting, without bubbles in the fluid?

Not the driveway that's for sure LMAO

    Rear defroster not working

Actually I don't hate that Though, I might subsitute some butyl for RTV - reversible and whatnot (butyl and dielectric grease are my usual weapons of choice). Or just toss a higher power connector in there to take the 30 amps that the defrost pulls. I already have the connector kinda drilled out...

    Rear defroster not working

Both? I think? The plug is fried at both ends, so, both need to be replaced

    Rear defroster not working

Nice thanks! Managed to find the OE one https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ado-pt1441 But even that doesn't have the pin guide. Strange Can't seem to find the actual harness anywhere though. I hate cutting wires and rather just re-harness and be done, but I can't find a part number for it...

    Rear defroster not working

Yeah I think I had some water intrusion that caused that to happen, unfortunately.
