NHTSA opens preliminary probe into more than 870,000 GM vehicles

“I don't think they will be able to get away with that. Random catastrophic engine failures become a safety issue. Look at the recent large recalls Toyota and Honda have had to do for engine issues.” Briefly for my education, what did they do? Buy back, replace or new engines?

NHTSA opens preliminary probe into more than 870,000 GM vehicles

I’ve had many brand new cars in my life, never have I been concerned that my car is going to put me in jeopardy, catastrophic engine failure. Dfm lifters, connecting rods “breaching” the engine block. Love that breaching part. Can’t wait till I find the right trade for me, and it wont be a GM.

    DFM disabler released

I’m no expert on the carbyte but my experience is the app is spotty. When paired it does not always respond to my request to turn off Dfm disablement or auto stop. The way I’ve seen it work is the carbyte device works as advertised when you plug it in, don’t need the app. The app really does not...

    DFM disabler released

Too bad Range and Carbyte don’t speak up on this forum to help us the user make an informed decision. I’m not so sure I’m going to continue to experiment on my $85k suv if they aren’t willing to speak up.

    AFM/DFM Disabler for 2025 models

Just answered my own question, looked on their website. It doesn’t appear to work on the 25’ suvs. Does on the 25 1500 trucks. Guess the ecm code is getting very model year specific?

    AFM/DFM Disabler for 2025 models

Does range work on the 2025 Tahoe?

    DFM disabler released

Now that GM is making these ecms far more confounding to 'crack', and more complicated to tune once cracked, it is very likely that Range and CarByte do not have a full understanding of every possible parameter or combo of parameters responsible for triggering which possible types of cylinder...

    DFM disabler released

Both range and carbyte confirm that during 0 cylinder coasting, the valves remain closed via the collapsible lifters. Range emphasizes this is not Dfm, I’m assuming this means the Dfm program is not commanding the lifters in coast mode, something else is. I wonder if this is why fondupot doesn’t...

In what situations have you used 4L/4Low?

With my 02’ Tahoe, the only way to pull a heavy ski boat out of the lake from basically a very steep dirt road that went into the water was 4L. I would spin otherwise. I have a question, on my 24’ 6.2 with 4 high and low, are the differentials locked in 4 low and limited slip in 4high?

Thanks, that’s what I’m getting. Just seems low, I like 60.

What would you expect for normal oil pressure 2024 6.2 Tahoe?

    Emblem/Lettering Location (measurements)

I changed my badging to black. The interesting thing I found was other than the general are where it goes, factory installed, from left side to right, there was allot of difference in placement. Point being, other than the general area do what is aesthetically balanced.

If you could drive the same course with RA007 removed and compare the two. I think the results would be very conclusive.

    DFM disabler released

I’ve given up trying to figure this out. I’m pissed I spent allot of money for this Rube Goldberg machine. Thanks GM.

    DFM disabler released

I think Dfm is not active during decel. I think Dfm is a piece of software in the ecm to selectively deactivate, collapse lifters, cylinders. I think decel is a different piece of software. I think decel uses lifter “ collapse” to deactivate cylinders along with fuel cutoff and ignition. So to...

Do you have to readjust the positioning of the HUD every time you start the car?

I believe my hud is in the same position I left it. If I’M not in the exact same seat position when I left it I have to adjust it. It’s a very fine angle to view it.

I have no idea what you just said. Your anger is interesting. Why don’t you enlighten us with your engineering credentials? This whole talk about return policy is immaterial. Range misrepresented its product. In other words they lied.

I’m pissed too. All the cylinders all the time. It’s a lie.

You have to love the double negatives in the quoted manual pages. The “may” from the quoted manual pages sounds just like the “may” on ranges web site. Question for Antonm, are you using Carbyte and if so what do you think?

    DFM disabler released

Just read Antony response. I agree, we are all trying to find the same answer which will help us each make our on decision on hw we want to deal with this crappy lifter thing. Maybe carbyte and range want to chime in here? You know they are lurking.

I agree, range is an improvement to the stock system. Their web site is misleading though. Is carbytes response just simplifying, maybe? I think I understand your question and it’s a good one. I would like to know for fact in coast are the cylinders just starved of fuel or are they also using...

    DFM disabler released

Weather is called Dfm or dfco, doesn’t matter, when you take your foot off the gas all the lifters collapse keeping the valves closed. In steady state cruise the system collapses some lifters to take some cylinders off line. This whole discussion is about lifter collapse. We all want a normal...
