    On Christmas morning ( 1974)…. My floor shifter cable broke……. I just grabbed the column ‘cover’, turned it, and it shifted as if there was nothing wrong. As a joke, I removed the center console,… stitched the carpet closed. No visible way to shift it. The column trick worked just fine.

    My ’70 GTO….. ( Auto transmission ) It was also the LeMans model. ( steering column shift)…... I had a floor shift, using a cable shifter……. But the column STILL had the mechanical linkage attached to the transmission. ( Column still turned, since the linkage was attached.)

    I backed out of a one-car garage door ( my friend’s house had 3 doors )…... I was nervous backing out….. The mirrors had to be retracted… I think, his Ferrari was about the same width as my Yukon… But it was difficult to ‘view’ to the rear…..

    I have a 2 1/2 car garage….. I back in, close to the wall, using a ‘mark’ on the back wall as a target for my right-side mirror. I have a tire-stop, since the garage door is 5 inches clearance to the front bumper. I close the mirrors so we don’t bump into it walking between ... Our Infiniti...

    1st time… this morning my starter was hesitant to start……. YOU are correct….. I tightened the battery connections…. They were not REAL tight…. I think it is solved… I will find out later this morning…..

    Turning on ignition, it displays 12:00 am. But the annoying glitch happens sometimes….. I reset the clock ….. It happened yesterday, but not today…. weird…..
