Humming noise when tightly turning steering wheel, only during cold start and go?

He said while making a turn, meaning while driving. It will not make the noise hitting still or once the differential warms up.

Rear differential clutches. Change the fluid with the GM fluid and drive it 100-300 miles, should improve. Also covered under powertrain warranty.

What year do I want ?

What are the improvements? The overall quality isn’t any better than the 900. The ride quality is terrible (they do handle a bit better but bigger sway bars on the 900 will fix that). The 6 speed and 8 speeds aren’t good. And before you argue, yes the 6 speed is basically the same as the 900 but...

    Budgeting for a paint job

He definitely was. The insurance game is “easy money” if you’re willing to play by their rules and most take the money and run.

    Budgeting for a paint job

Absolutely. Luckily for the OP, he has a Yukon which has a lot less trim to deal with. I’m pretty sure all the grilles are discontinued and the aftermarket ones are pure garbage quality, which really sucks. I managed to get a new set of grilles for both of my Escalades and had clear bra done on...

    Budgeting for a paint job

It does seem much more common these days. Japanese paint has been about as notorious as GM paint for failing or being very soft/easy to scratch. Nissans seem to be pretty bad about complete failure. I know a lot of it has to do with the environmental regulations, which is a big reason the...

    Budgeting for a paint job

When a new one costs $80k-$100k, $10k for a paint job becomes much more worth it. Especially if the rest of the truck is in good shape. I’ve spent a significant amount of money on my 08 and 13 that everyone would deem “not worth it” but I am not spending $100k on one of these new turds that are...

    Budgeting for a paint job

Yeah, most places won’t do a full paint job. I wanted to get a price on doing the entire truck since I figured the doors wouldn’t be far behind and no one I called would do it. I decided to put clear bra on the tops of the doors to block the UV since that’s where it’ll start and I use a ceramic...

    Budgeting for a paint job

If you want it to actually look good when you’re done, $10k-$15k. All the trim, mirrors, door handles, fascia’s, roof antenna, etc. will need to be removed and masked off which is a huge amount of work. I spent $5k getting the hood and roof repainted which required sanding down to bare metal...

Should this pre-purchase inspection be a dealbreaker?

It’s not fraud. Carfax can only show what is reported to them and that’s clearly stated on their web site. They can’t and don’t know everything that has happened to every car ever and sometimes mistakes are made in the reporting. I’ve seen carfax show multiple owners when the title number was...

Should this pre-purchase inspection be a dealbreaker?

If the inspection was done a dealer, they can’t upsell warranty work on a free inspection, it’s against GM policy. But they can if a customer pays for an inspection. You can go in right before your warranty expires and pay for an inspection and anything they find is fair game.

Should this pre-purchase inspection be a dealbreaker?

The vacuum pump “ticking” is perfectly normal. Some are louder than others. If the power brakes are working, then the pump is fine.

    Would you buy this?

Do not buy a 2015. If you can’t afford an 18 with the 10 speed and a Mac Daddy Platinum extended warranty, pass on this body style.

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

You’re going to be disappointed because there really isn’t anything new I’m dying to buy. I think quality across all brands is crap now because all the manufactures realized people will pay over sticker price to get new cars, even though the quality isn’t as good and even if if features have...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

I am talking facts, I’ve seen it personally and then see tons of owners and other techs online experiencing the exact same things. You haven’t quoted anything I actually said, you twisted everything I said into your own words that were completely different from what I said. You're not...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

And yet you’re still saying I said things I didn’t. Absolutely hilarious. Try taking off your bias and read all my posts again. Maybe the you’ll actually understand the things I’ve said because everything you say I said is so far off base it isn’t even funny. I never said the Germans do it...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

You are something else. Clearly you can’t handle someone not agreeing with you and can’t read. I never said any of those things. The interior panels are creaky when you push on them. All the plastics around the radio and console creak when you push on them. This is the case with every GM...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

No, I’m not. I have much more experience with them than you. I’ve touched more of them than you. I’ve driven more of them than you. There are tons of posts on here, other forums, Facebook groups, etc. from other people saying their trucks have experienced exactly the problems I’m saying the...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

What’s your angle here? Deny everything every time someone brings up the massive amount of problems these trucks have so you can feel better about the money you spent? Denying the problems doesn’t make them disappear. There are threads and posts about all the problems with these trucks all over...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

I don’t know how you can say that. The materials feel super cheap, every trim piece creaks and moves when you press on it, the suspension is still crashy in rough roads, the lifters don’t last 5k miles, the 6.2L are spinning bearings left and right, oil leaks like crazy, evaporator cores, and so...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

Lol. Ok. I’ll tell that to the customers when they come in stranded on their trip from Florida to Montana because the DEF they put in caused the poor quality message and put the truck in limp mode.

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

Just wait until any of the emission systems fail, injector(s) fail, or you put in some DEF it doesn’t like. Unless you’re a new car every 3 years person so you’re never without a warranty, it’ll cost you eventually. And DEF that is below quality isn’t warrantable either. I wouldn’t have any of...

6.2 gas vs. 3.0 Duramax, which one to buy?

Spun bearings and failed lifters or oil leaks and expensive diesel maintenance. Take your pick.

2009 Yukon XL Denali - Rear Drivers Door Won’t Open

I disagree. I don’t think any Dorman part I’ve installed felt anywhere near the quality of OEM.
