What does "AC" button actually do on my 2002 Escalade

The system is charged. There is no question of that. ---------- Post added at 12:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:11 PM ---------- This sounds like a feasible scenario. So you're saying I should drop the cover underneath the dash and pull the actuator in the middle just above the...

What does "AC" button actually do on my 2002 Escalade

Hello, My 2002 Escalade (160K miles) recently lost all AC. I took it to a mechanic and he noticed the belt had slipped. He replaced belt tensioner, belt, schrader valve and charged the system. It worked great. 5 days later the air isn't very cold at all but I believe it is something...

Whats the highest mileage you would go and still buy?

Read the high mileage threads on here. 150k was my highest mileage for buying.

My Differential is clicking and screeching

Smart. Axles can get expensive. If they're setup well and maintained they can last forever. They're hard though. I bought the tools and still lacked the confidence to setup my own gears (that first time). It's hard. It also gets more expensive than you expect. I didn't see you list axle...

Build Vs Buy (5.3 to 6.0)

The cheapest route could be to trade it for an Escalade or Denali of equivalent year, rebuild the 6.0 with a cam, headers and tune it after break in. You would get the transmission you need, the block you want and the torque we've all mentioned.

Got the twin stick NP205 swap done

That looks great! I don't see too many built rigs on here. Here's my little 4x4:

My '09 pings, no matter what fuel I use...

It helps with keeping grease off hoses which makes them last longer. The torque app will tell you about your timing advance as you drive. You can see it bounce around at different throttles and RPM's. Although I bet yours is fine, I'd be curious for you to watch your engine with the app. I...

Mpg on 5.3 cammed, longtubes, tune

I have an 02 Escalade with the 5.3 and about the same miles. I can get close to 20 (avg 19) mpg on highway. Yours does seem a bit low.

ATTN Experienced do-it-yourselfers...How would you fix this?

Someone will have better ideas... But I would scuff it, cut a hole in a plastic canvas and mask around it and hit it with black touch up spray paint. Then you can feather the seem with polishing compound on printer paper. I'd wax polish ontop of that. Should look normal for a bumper and cost $15.

Oil pressure drops as it warms up?

That's good. You could even go a little heavier with the oil. I've done that in old 350s.

Oil pressure drops as it warms up?

This might be wrong advice, but I've bumped up the weight in old small blocks to get my oil pressure back. I'd go back to 40W and see what happens. I certainly don't see it being a problem in summer. I might go higher if 40W doesn't work. I try to keep all the needles facing up if possible.

At what mileage do Tahoes start to see serious problems?

I believe you are looking at a sweet spot for mileage. 124K gets you in the lower non warranty price range but gives another comfortable 70K miles before resell starts to nose dive. Don't worry about the transmission. Fluid change was recommended at 100K. If it didn't happen you can expect to...

    Tranny Fluid Change?

Forgot to add, the service manual says we all should have at 100K or earlier.

    Tranny Fluid Change?

Hi Taholio, I could not believe how easy the complete fluid exchange method was at the radiator. I had 16quarts of fluid, a $10 pale pump, a small clear hose, a bucket, and a brass adapter. It took about 15 minutes to turn my black ATF to red. I did this and the rear diff fluid as soon as I...

Cold start ticking on driver side of 5.3 motor

Many of us have the "piston slap" which is common and not bad. It is just something that happens on the early 00-03(?) 5.3s in the first 30 seconds on a cold start. I take it easy during that time and only idle. You may have a lubrication issue in a particular part of your valve train which can...

229k on 2003 XL Denali maintenance tips?

Now that we have the usual transmission flush debate out of the way, what else should he be doing? Ball joints? Bilstein replacement of Autoride? Bushings? Oil flush? Coil test? Fuel filter?

    2wd and 4wd Hubs

On other 4x4 vehicles, the hub is held together by the outer axle shaft. So the vehicles that use the same bearing in 2WD and 4WD give you a little fake axle shaft. Even if this fits, your wheel may fall off when you try to drive.

Woot, another problem.. Grinding on decel..

I'd be curious about your ring and pinion. Also curious about your pinion bearing. Might have loose pinion causing griding on coast. Could be observed in DS slop or on coast side of gear if you pull diff cover.

Definitely love that car. RR was top of my list before we had a 3rd child. I think you have my favorite color combination for a new one.

All new brakes, slight pulsing and soft pedal...?

I do the "bedding" trick when I do new pads and rotors. I just go from 55 to 0 very quickly a half dozen times. I'm not sure if it does anything but it is fun. My brakes always work well too. Edit: pulsing could be bushing issues too.

    2002 Tahoe Front Bumper Build

Nice! This might be my favorite mod I've seen at this forum. I'm used to the 4x4 where we weld and fab our own parts. How do you like that bender? A friend modded mine to prevent crimps and flat spots. I have yet to try it. I'm excited though. Which gauge steel did you use?
