    Expected transmission life span

Thank you for weighing in from the perspective of someone in the know. I thought 3200 sounded like a lot. I am in CA, so I suppose the price will be higher, given that everything costs more here. I have also been told by a longtime Chevy line mechanic that there is something about 2nd gear...

Aux cord install on original Bose radio

Thanks for the pic. That looks like the only I used. For some unknown reason, I am getting bleed thru of the XM signal. Apparently there are differing versions of this jack and some are better than others. Thanks again.

    Expected transmission life span

Okay, you got me there. It must be something about how I drive that both transmissions have exhibited the same behavior with high mileage. Where are you located? Do you do rebuilds? What does it run, or if you don't what should it run on average, for a freshen up on an '04?

    Expected transmission life span

I'm not so sure of that. I've been able to make it do that for well over 50k miles. It is 1 particular combo of on the gas, off the gas, on the gas. Not only have I been able to replicate this with my current 04 Tahoe, it also did the exact same thing in an 01 Suburban I used to drive. I...

    Expected transmission life span

My '04 has ~258k on the original and still driving. (Knocks on wood) It does funny shi(f)t if I'm on the gas, let off for a second or two, then get back on the gas. When I do that, it will act like it's slipping, and allow the engine to rev up. I always back off the skinny pedal, then it...

Aux cord install on original Bose radio

Would you mind linking or showing the type of jack you are talking about? I have only seen 1 type of mini jack from different sources. The cheapness, and lack of resilience out of the commonly found jack is a bummer. Thanks in advance.

    Cutting out the spare?

If you're not sure which end to use, look in your manual or look on the plastic instruction sheet that is sewn into the bag that holds the tools. Both places show which tool and which end to use.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

My initial post was warm/hot exhaust, hot engine, drip. With temperature differences as you mention, it makes perfect sense. Thanks.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

I know, right. And an owner and previous owner that takes care of it.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

Thanks for all the posts and info. I may look for that tool as it sure beats pulling a valve cover and all that entails. The recent lack of power has me concerned, but it could just be age thing too.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

I thought the intake manifold gasket problems were in the prior generation, 99 & earlier Vortec 350, not in the LS based 5.3 engine.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

Next time I see it, I'll go in for a wiff. It does seem a bit down on power, but it also has 250k on original everything, except tune up parts.

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

Thank you for all the replies. I know that condensation out the tailpipe is typical. The reason I asked is because it seems to be a tad more than I have seen typically in the past. I thought I saw a post here or on GMFS about that possibly being a tell tale sign. Is there any other...

Moisture out the tailpipe, sign of cracked head?

Last weekend, I had the engine running in Park for about 15-20 minutes. I noticed after a while that there was a wet spot right below the tailpipe from a drip. Is this a tell tale sign of possible cracked head? My 04 Tahoe Z71 5.3 has "862" casting # heads and I haven't seen any reference...

    receiver hitch for 2015+

Thanks for the post. That amount of drop is what I'm seeing too, and it seems like a huge drop, given that this Yukon is not lifted. I've only seen that large amount of drop used before on a lifted vehicle. I guess moving the hitch that much is the culprit. Guess I have to buy all new...

    receiver hitch for 2015+

I have a few ball mount, hitch receivers with different balls for stuff I tow, from previous generations of GM Full size truck & Suburban that I've owned. None of these work well on my 2015. I realize the hitch is now kind of behind the bumper instead of below it, and I think that is the...

    Ebay front end repair kit

Moving this back up. I am considering the kit from 1A Auto. I seem to remember reading and hearing good things about 1A Auto. Am I mistaken? The total cost of this kit and all it includes is hard to beat. See here...

Have a new pair of factory GM outer tie rod ends , GM part # 19149617 I was going to only replace tie rod ends at one point in the past, but have now decided to buy a complete kit and replace everything on my 250k mile Tahoe. It's time. GM cost $126.65 each plus tax and/or ship $225 for...
