    Rebuilt Differential Help

Mornin all. Just wanted to come in for an update this morning. After work yesterday I went for a figure 8 test drive, and I admit that if I didn't see it myself, I might not have believed it, but doing the figure 8's has worked. I still have a very light pop, but all in all it is much better...

    Rebuilt Differential Help

First off I want to thank all for the advice. This past weekend I tore the whole thing back down and put it all back together by the book. I am going to enclose a pic of the gear oil I used in this post. I drove it easy to work today because we have a massive parking area I can do the fig. 8's...

    Rebuilt Differential Help

This was my 1st diff. to rebuild. I have only driven slow(45mph) with it, but did not do fig. 8's. I did use Valvoline synthetic oil for limited slip. Thanks for the help and I will try the figure 8'sand see what happens. Since I did use the limited slip oil, should I still change it again...

    Rebuilt Differential Help

Hi Guys. I just rebuilt my GU4/G80 read differential on my 2011 Tahoe. 1st couple of days all was fine, super quiet, no rattling, clunking, grinding, all was perfect. Had to run some errands last night and when I went to turn into a driveway there was like a loud pop/clunk came from the rear...

    2011 Tahoe Spider Gear lineup

Hello again, Gents. I said I would come back with an update and here it is. I finally got the carrier reassembled. My mistake was thinking I needed to use all the shims in the clutch pack that I originally took out of the carrier. As I was having trouble rolling in the spider gears with the...

Hi guys. This is my 1st time getting in to a differential and was wondering how to properly stack the clutch pack. Thanks in advance

    2011 Tahoe Spider Gear lineup

I didn't use any special tools to remove the gov locks just a long skinny punch to tap out the pins. Then I used a small magnet to remove the square pin holder from the center . After that you have to be careful because the side gears can fall out with the clutch packs and guide clips. One side...

    2011 Tahoe Spider Gear lineup

It is a 3.08 limited slip posi with the gov locks. There are 2 marks on the spider gears and on the side gears inside the differential carrier that are supposed to be some sort of line up guide. Hard to find much about them on the net. They are not on the ring and pinion gears as far as I know

    2011 Tahoe Spider Gear lineup

Thanks for the advice I will try again. When I read about the marks on the side gears and spider gears I thought they may need to be lined up a certain way. I will try rolling them in without the thrust washers just to get the feel. Could have been when I tried that one or more of the guide...

    2011 Tahoe Spider Gear lineup

I have a 2011Tahoe with a GU4/G80 differential, limited slip posi. I already have pulled my carrier and am replacing the spider gears and side gears. Can someone explain to me how to use the marks on the gears to line them up and roll them in. Sorry but this is my 1st time digging into the rear...
