Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

    I am not sure about the bigger diesel, but I think this video is for the 3L If I am not mistaken, I think this is a GM mechanic who has his own channel;

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Why was the dealer using Mobil instead of the AC Delco ATF ? Personally I am considering using Amsoil Signature Series ULV

    Another oil weight question

Without going into detail (you can go down the rabbit hole if you wish), yes CAFE standards caused GM and others in the USA to use colored water instead of quality protective oil, ATF, etc. All to meet certain MPG criteria, environmental rubbish, the customer be damned.

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

No, as the woman service writer said her top trans fluid tech told her "it might" need a reprogram, so she obviously didn't know. I am hoping someone like Nick Transmissions might know, and I am going to ask around to see if others are doing it. I am tempted to go somewhere other than the...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

I live in a very warm climate, so the things people in the north/cold climate worry about is not a concern for us down south. Even in the cold months my trans temp gets to 60 while idling for just a few minutes, and is good to go. If global cooling gets worse I might have to rethink things. :Big...

The engine on the Yukon I got as a replacement for the Yukon that got two engine replacements needs replaced. Yes, you read that correctly.

Aside from any manufacturing problems on the assembly line, these morons at GM put meeting the CAFE standards above the health and longevity of their engines (maybe even their transmissions) with recommended fluids that is as thin as water. They are destroying the GM brand as a result. I have...

The engine on the Yukon I got as a replacement for the Yukon that got two engine replacements needs replaced. Yes, you read that correctly.

With the issues I experienced with my 2015 Escalade (heavy carbon buildup on the valves because of the variable valve timing crap) I decided to get the 3L turbo diesel on my 2021 to avoid all these crazy engine failures like the OP is going thru. It is too early to tell if I made the right...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Thanks for the replies thus far. I have a bunch of questions and observations. 1) Is anyone running other ATF than AC Delco when they flushed/changed it, and if so what did you choose and why? 2) Has anyone done the bypass, as I am serious thinking about doing so with this unit? Since we...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Thanks for the reply. Far be it for me to question someone who works on transmissions for a living with my limited knowledge, especially when it comes to tranmissions. That said, as you might imagine I have spoken to guys who work on them exclusively, and they have differening points of view...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Years ago before synthetic oil, I was running 20W50 in most of my motors (some HP applications) and never thought about fuel efficiency, I just wanted the most protection possible. Never did I have an engine failure. In recent years GM has told us we MUST use the every thinning oil to maintain...

    Fans running constantly

I experienced the same problem, and this thread might be helpful; https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/fans-run-like-the-engine-is-overheating-coolant-gauge-reads-no-temperature-a-c-disengaged.133032/

Fans run like the engine is overheating, coolant gauge reads no temperature, A/C disengaged.

I just realized I never followed up with the end result, and instead posted it on a different forum I am a member of. I replaced both the sensor & thermostat, reset the system by disconnecting the battery, and from that point on I never had the problem again. It was likely just the sensor, but...

That is what I assumed with a cold engine not under pressure. However my old mechanic skills do not always translate to modern engines/systems.

Most recent work done was a new injector replacement, but nothing to do with the cooling system. The tank is at normal level.

I have actually watched the video from this guy when he first got hold of that ESV a year or so ago. He acquired it from the dealership near me for a song. I actually reached out to them saying if they had any other deals like that, count me in, as that was a steal. As to the malady, I am...
