Replacement side mirror advice
I appreciate the thoughts. One downside, however, is that I have to go get them. Which means a couple of hours out of my day in drive time, plus time wandering the yard, finding the right ones and pulling them. It'll mean essentially a half-day, or whole afternoon. And hoping they still work... -

I hit a mailbox with my passenger mirror trying to avoid someone crowding the center of my neighborhood road, so I need a replacement - housing, glass, everything. Looking on Ebay for a cheap-ish replacement, of course there are a million options, but I'm not sure which one I need... this is a... -
Ball joint replacement - Dorman are "superior design"?
I just went ahead an ordered all AC Delco stuff. Hurts, but... I guess since I'm planning (hoping?) on putting it all in myself, I'm saving a boatload in labor costs. <sigh>- tRidiot

No, no GM GEnuine replacement, and AC Delco or Delphi are available under the Daily Driver category - nothing under Premium or Heavy Duty - I guess the question is, are the "Premium" and "Heavy Duty" options actually legit? Is it better to get the "Daily Driver" AC Delco Gold over something...- tRidiot

"DORMAN B6541RD Premium RD Front Lower; Metal Bearing; Superior Design" $29.79 "DORMAN BJ90276RD Premium RD Front Upper" $25.79 These are the only two options on RockAuto on the "Heavy Duty" section. I will agree it's probably not optimal... But my shocks are good (the Bilstein 5100s I put in) and springs are good. Someone suggested airbags... There's no way I'm going to that expense on this old truck. I'm just trying to limp it along another couple of years until finances allow me to get...- tRidiot

Jacked up the front end, looked undernesth. Body bushing surprisingly all look to be in good shape. Go figure. Need all new bump stops, front and back, but that's not my problem. Looks like I need 3 out of 4 ball joints, leaking or cracked. Might as well call it 4. Need new passenger side...- tRidiot

The more I look into this, the more suspicious I am of the body mounts than the shocks. Shocks were good quality Bilsteins and I would expect more than 30-40k out of them - and like I said, it doesn't feel like bad shocks felt prior to that replacement. I know GM body mounts at this age (~20y)...- tRidiot

Some have expressed concern about the steering, I think that's probably good. It's been checked several times, as this is always a concern with vehicles this age. Notably, one local shop tried to really almost force me to replace the Pittman arm, telling me it was unsafe and they could be liable...- tRidiot

I will add, when I replaced my original shocks back in 2017, I knew they were bad because when driving at highway speeds, I would feel the truck 'skitter' sideways a little bit when hitting bumps. Very unnerving, but I didn't have these weird squeakings, so I don't really know... I'm not feeling...- tRidiot

My '04 Tahoe LT has nearly 300k miles. Replaced the motor with an LQ9 6.0 and had the trans rebuilt just 2 years ago. Oh, wait... ok it's been 3y. But less than 15,000 miles, I think. I put Bilstein 5100s on in late 2017 when I did a slight lift, probably 30k miles since then. No more than 40k...- tRidiot

Apparently I need a new PCM
I drove it to the shop - barely. It would run a couple minutes, then go into 'limp mode' then I would have to pull over, turn it off, let it sit a minute and start it back up. A couple of tries on/off, it would run ok, then another mile or so and repeat. Took me about 20-25 minutes to get...- tRidiot
