    Noise on Cold Start

Not my Tahoe, but my son's. 2001 5.3L, 115K miles, 4WD. Starts fine, then after a few seconds starts ticking then runs quiet after a minute or less. It only does this when cold such as after sitting overnight or longer. He's had it about a year and it's been doing this since purchased. Runs...

    What is this?

Thanks for the input. Since it wasn't easily identified and we didn't find anything missing in the area, I'm thinking it didn't come from the truck. My son was here over the weekend so I took a picture of the skid plate (my '03 does not have this plate under the front diff) and a couple more...

    What is this?

Thanks for the input & questions. The unknown round piece is plastic. I don't know the correct name of the "belly pan", but it similar to the plastic skid plate that angles up to the front frame. This pan is aft of the front one. May be called a skid shield. The next time the truck is here...

    What is this?

My son just bought a 2001 Tahoe 5.3 with 115K. It's been garage kept for 17 years by a seasonal resident of Florida and great shape cosmetically. We were doing some preventative maintenance and removed the plastic rear belly pan (dog bone shaped?) this was on the top and fell out. Does anyone...

    Torsion Bar Adjustment Experience

Thanks. I found some who say they should contact and others who say it should be slightly clear of the jounce stops. My front was low (raked) and the driver's side was compressing the stop. I chose to adjust both to slightly clear the stops. All looks good now and the ride is fine. However...

    Torsion Bar Adjustment Experience

Nope, still kicking here. I was hoping others would find it useful when doing the same job. It ends with the data and alignment results as a reference. Is there something I missed?

    Torsion Bar Adjustment Experience

After doing a complete suspension and steering renewal 6 months ago, I suspected excessive rake (nose down). The Torsion Bars had never been adjusted and both Lower Control Arms were on the Jounce Stops (driver's side more). I'm posting this to help others who may be doing the same job...

PSA: Check Those Torsion Bar Crossmember Bushings

I recently did a complete suspension and steering renewal and didn't even notice these bushings. All noises and looseness are gone. I happened to be adjusting my torsion bars and found your post while looking for guidance. Just went out and checked my bushings. Like yours, the driver's...

    My 2001 tahoe 300k miles original engine/transmision

Nice! Welcome to the forum. I've got 160K and considering a preemptive transmission rebuild although it's still working fine. Your experience is comforting.

    Do these come off easy?

Ditto on this process. I used 20# braided fishing line & the 3M wheel (with caution). Even though it was prepping for a paint job I used caution with the 3M wheel and the surface was undamaged.

    Which shocks to buy?

I recently finished a complete steering and suspension (except springs and torsion bars) restoration on my 2003 Tahoe which has 160 K miles and the ZW7 & G65 Premium Smooth Ride option. My steering was getting really loose and one of my rear shocks (Nivomats) was leaking. I replaced both with...

    Budgeting for a paint job

I had my "03 Tahoe painted about a year ago. I removed all trim, bumpers, lights, badges (left them off), etc. Total was around $6K. See the link below for work in progress and pics. https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/new-to-forum-fixing-up-my-03-tahoe.131033/
