I fell in love with these OBS 2dr. Tahoes and Yukons when they came out in the 90's, and somewhere in the back of my mind I subconsciously decided that I shall have one some day.
In October 2015, I found the candidate, which turned out to be a relatively low-mileage black '99 2dr Tahoe in Dallas, Texas. I called the gentleman who owned it, and after a long conversation, I grabbed some cash and booked a one-way flight to Dallas from Denver. I drove it home the next day. This thing was in immaculate condition...like stepping into a time machine, to coin a phrase by my mechanic when he first saw it.
I've had a lot of vehicles over the years from various manufacturers, but this is my favorite. Rides great. Sounds great. Comfortable. Hard to beat a Tahoe.
Sure, I had to explain to my wife that it's 17 years old, and I'll likely have to sacrifice some Saturdays greasing up my hands and the floor of my garage, but she was okay with it (or at least pretended to be at the time).
I've busted some knuckles on this thing a few times now, but I'm always rewarded with a great experience when driving it.
A good decision, I think.

"Sometimes a blood sacrifice is necessary to appease the automotive gods when working on these trucks. Go ahead and smash that finger with a wrench or crack those knuckles across the engine block before starting the 'real' job, then you'll be good the rest of the way through."
