I will echo all of the previous comments on performance vs. mileage... When I drive my 23 Tahoe, its usually on long highway trips. I keep the RPMs just under 1500 and the MPG is up around 30, all while hauling six people in comfort...
While we’re on this subject…. I was testing out the block heater in advance of the really cold temps headed our way and I can’t see any indications that it is working or on. It’s plugged in to a live plug, but I expected to see some sort of informational message on the dash and there are none...
It's a good point and I had thought about that (the belt, not so much the filter).
Using the numbers from @TollKeeper above, I save $6k over 150k miles (change time for belt) ($0.04 per mile *150k), but I think my savings will be greater than that because my realworld mpg is averaging 27...
I went looking in the manual to see where that setting might be hidden... here is what it says. I don't think my Tahoe has the right option (but need to check)
