    Best thing I have used is Meguiar's Endurance, any of the gel stuff works the best I have found. But it's still good to buff off any excess after it sets in, gel or not.

    Have never liked the Scosche kits for fit and finish, but Metra is usually pretty good for fit and finish. I'd give them a look.

    x2 they are a pretty good company, I bought a few smaller items from them that broke and they not only replaced them right away but swapped them out for a better model.

    Best Buy I'm sure has decent installers, but they are probably far and few between. If it happens again I would def get it checked out, maybe even a second opinion from a different shop. With the new modules it's easier to install these things, still not idiot proof of course.

    Wood would be ok to mount it on, the best thing is just to make sure is has adequate airspace all around it. Last thing you want is to set it down on carpet, blocking the vents. You could make an enclosure for it and mount it at the back, like mentioned though you will want to use fans in there...

    You can also look up the stock numbers from here, http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/default.htm and then you can just cross reference the number to an LED replacement.

    I have some and like them, the whiter look is great. One thing I would say though is to make sure you buy ones that are SMD, the cheaper ones just use regular (ie 3/5mm) LEDs and while they work they don't look as good nor are as bright.
