    With the 6-speed I don't think I'd go above 3.73. I own a Sierra with the 4 speed and 3.73, tows pretty well if you don't tow anything huge. 3.43 would probably be ok.     Squeaky Steering

    If you get under the vehicle on the front and have someone move the steering wheel, you'd see the steering cylinder move if it's bad. Easy way to check at least. I've had a little squeak when my steering boot went bad and got dirt inside. Only squeaked at low speeds too.

    You said it gets louder with driving, does it get louder with engine rpm? Does yours have the electric fans or fan clutch? It's possible they messed up the seal through the firewall or your clutah fan is bad. I can't see how it would be power steering related.
