    Mb. It is a gen IV. I did remove the fuel pump. Could a bad bearing? I've scoped it and found no obstruction. Wtheck? I bought a slide hammer to force it out. Think that might work?

    So I have. A 2012 Tahoe V8 5.3 LT 4WD. Im swapping out the camshaft and it only comes out 1/4 and then gets stuck. I've removed everything on the topend. Intake manifold, exhaust manifolds ( with rods , lifters, and rockers), oil pump, timing chain and cover along with the synchronizer. See pic...

    That's it. I gotta double check those lifters just to make sure the new ones are still good. Thanks everyone. I'm still putting the xfer case back on right now. Once I get it all back together I'll check those lifters before starting her up.

    Yup. It was what I read on some of the other replies. Just a plate... a scrape plate. Nothing on the other side but the oil pan.

    For my Z71 Tahoe LT V8 5.3 I was replacing the oil pump. And you know that means you have to drop the pan to do this amongst other things like the xfer case, a cross member and the axle shaft. In the oil pan, I found this broken piece of something... some pins, andwhat looks like a lock ring...

    So I took it off and there's nothing but the bottom of the pan. I was hoping for a quick access to the oil pump pickup line bolt but I guess it must be some kind of pointless scrape plate. However.. after dropping the oil pan I found some tings that should have not been there. Check out the pics...

    I'm about to find out. I'm changing the oil pump right now. I'm curious to see if it's a quick access to the oil pickup line that bolts to the oil pump. If its not a quick access i guess ill just continue to pull the pan since i already drained the oil. I'll send pics and updates on my findings.
