    LowCountryTim's 2011 Tahoe Build Thread

So update on the android head unit. As expected, it's not for the faint of heart. I figured there would be some issues, which is why I got the $250 (now $125) radio instead of the $600 phoenix radio which has the same issues at twice the price. First issue is a software issue. Their unit does...

I also added a $13 bluetooth OBD scanner and paired it to the head unit:

    LowCountryTim's 2011 Tahoe Build Thread

Bringing this thread back from the dead.. the irony isn't lost on me. After sitting in my garage for a year, I finally got the new dashboard in. took me 75 minutes to get the old one out. Longer to get the new one in, but only because I took the opportunity to do some other work-- namely...

McMaster: http://www.mcmaster.com/5463K177 If you need one I can just drop it in the mail to you. Just message me your info. Yes, I had researched the drop but with everything else I'm doing I don't think that will get done anytime soon. Still have to get the replacement dash in, but 2...

Removed the strut I did last weekend and installed a new bumper.. And did the remaining strut. Glad it's over with. Best to just order new bumpers if you're going to tackle this. You can't actually see them until you take it apart.

    LowCountryTim's 2011 Tahoe Build Thread

In the words of the illustrious Ted Theodore Logan, "something strange is afoot..." While driving, noticed the seatbelt indicator was flashing.. only.. I was wearing the seatbelt. Did a quick unbuckle-rebuckle. Still blinking. Meh, figured maybe a loose wire. Then the speedometer went to zero...

    LowCountryTim's 2011 Tahoe Build Thread

Did half a thing today.. Pro tip.. order the travel limiting bumpers when you order the oem struts. I couldn't see it before disassembly and it was toast. Ended up having to put the old one back in as nobody had them in stock. So I get to do this one a second time. Deferred doing the other side...

Non-Stock 20" Tire Size Choices for 2013 Tahoe LTZ

Well my rim sizes aren't the same so I won't give you actual tire sizes but... on my 2011 tahoe a tire that is 32.7" in diameter and 11.22" wide rubs very slightly on the front fender liner at full turn. a 32.09" diameter by 11.22"w tire does not rub. Plug your desired r20 tire size into one...

    Evap Issue? - SOLVED

I believe a bad evap purge vent valve will give you a check engine light (at least it did on my suburban). Bad evap canister will cause a slow fill and did not throw check engine light on my tahoe. [edited to correct valve, still threw a check engine light for me]

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Yes, cleaned off the remnants of the old rubber and used medium body superglue to affix new rubber. We shall see if the new rubber lasts in the weather.

Tried my hand at these.. not paying $120 to replace them.

Cowl was looking too good to leave these end panels like they were. I can still buy replacements, but I'm not spending $60 each for left and right. Tried my hand at replacing the weatherseals.. I guess we will find out if they will last exposed to the weather.

    LowCountryTim's 2011 Tahoe Build Thread

So this is the cowl and wipers after they were painted.. looks good. I stopped at 2 coats because I wanted to make sure it didn't get too glossy: I also had to replace one of these because I broke when I took it apart (not due to negligence, they were just old and brittle): Took a while...

Looked at the price difference for the lowers.. No sense pressing new bushings in. The ball joint itself is like $80, plus the bushings.. would save like $30 each. Not worth the hassle. Didn't look at the uppers.

What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

On the cowl I scrubbed with a green scuff pad and dawn dish detergent, rinsed and then wiped with an IPA solution (carpro eraser). Then sprayed. On the wipers I scrubbed with scuff pad then sanded with 320 grit. SEM says use 400 grit, but it's what I had. Two coats on all. I'll polish the...
