Did the fuel pump myself a few years back and while it was not technically difficult it is a pain in the ass. I feel like $800 for the whole job is about right.
I had bad shaking on an old explorer. It was the U Joints. I was able to take the entire drive shaft off and had NAPA replace the u joints for like 50 bucks.
I tow with a '01 5.3 Yukon. We have a small 2500 lb travel trailer. Braking is a non-issue for us but power is a huge issue. These rigs are NOT made for towing travel trailers. Maybe OK for taking a boat to the water but that is about it. Any sort of hill and she is screaming at 4,000 RPMs...

I am having some issues with my parking brake where it only works about half the time or less. I recently replaced the brake shoes and immediately upon doing so the parking brake seemed to work great. But soon after it starting sticking and only after I started driving would...
brake cleaner
At first I used carburetor cleaner but that didn't work at all. I tried brake cleaner and it took the grease off instantly. It might be a good idea to plug up some of the holes where the sensors are though so you don't mess those up. Also used a tooth brush but the brake cleaner...
So my starter went out on me today. 2001 Yukon with 128k on her. Figured it was going to go soon cause it was having labored starts especially in the cold. This morning went to fire it up and I got nothing. Not even trying to crank. Checked battery connection, rocked the car, tried it in...
Hey All-
I decided to give my throttle body a cleaning the other day and when I got the intake all dismantled and got to the throttle body I noticed some sitting oil in the throttle body. Once I got the assembly off that back side of the paddle was also caked in grease pretty bad. Below are...
Figured it out! Found a small rock wedged in the vertical weather stripping of the door. It must have been lodged in the horizontal weather strip and then after scratching the crap out of my tint got pushed to the side. Pulled it out and everything is back to normal. Thanks for your suggestions!
Thanks, I actually did do that. I also pulled out the weather stripping that the window goes between and ran it without that in place and it is still making the grinding sound. Stuck a flashlight in the door to try and see where it is happening but no luck. Tried using my phone as a camera to...
2001 GMC Yukon-
Out of nowhere I started having a scraping sound on my driver's side window when using it. It is the sound of metal grinding on the glass and it is starting to put holes in my interior window tint. The holes are not in one single area... it is sporadic all over the bottom of...
The tensioner is super easy to replace and it is roughly a $10 part. I did this a while ago upon the suggestion of a shop that "diagnosed" the problem however it didn't make a bit of a difference. If I ever getting around to fixing this I will post the solution.
Did you ever figure out the cause of this? I have the same exact issue going on and a trying to diagnose whether it is a pulley, the clutch or the whole compressor. Got a big trip coming up and the wife isn't going to be too happy with me without A/C.
I am writing this short post to help anyone who is going to change their fuel filter. I just did mine tonight and could not find anything on here on how to actually do it. This is really easy to do and all you really need are two wrenches and something to catch the small amount of spilled...
