I like what I read about the LUK. I like the price tag as well. Do any of you have a recommendation on a transmission jack? last time i did an auto trans swap i used a floor jack and a 2x4. i do not want a repeat of that circus! I will be working on the driveway with the truck up on ramps.
So, coming back to this after a whole long delay. The Trans tech guy took a look at it and says that the trans itself is fine for now, my oil changes have likely limited how much crap gets into the system as the TC seems to be suffering some kind of issue. I have replaced the throttle body...
Interesting development, i found my paperwork last night from the rebuild in 2023... im still inside the 36 month warranty period! Guess who i am going to go see today.
That rebuild was supposed to include a new TC, and it ran just fine for 2 years. i suspect that something in there just...
well, there are no codes being shown. No error messages at all in fact. the symptom is that as i coast up to a light or sit in drive stopped with my foot on the brake, it shudders. the closeest thing i can describe it as when i used to have a stick and i would be riding the clutch while...
That right there is the problem. The guy who did my previous rebuild kept the truck for 6 months to do a rebuild. that is unacceptable. other shops in the area all have a reputation of selling you on good parts and later you find out that they too cut corners and put in cheap stuff, or only...
Greetings all
My torque converter is beginning to do shuddery stuff, and i expect it will fail not too far in the future. I figure if i have to pull the trans to replace the TC, I should also swap the trans while im at it. Its got 300K on it, and was rebuilt about 100k ago. I tried the fluid...
I have a decent dash cam, seems to do well. However, i picked up a 12v to USBC wire with a voltage regulator in the line. It will only power the dash cam for about 10 seconds......
Powering up the dash cam from the USB charging socket i have installed in place of a cigarette lighter in the...
You are likely technically correct.... however. there are a whole load of practicalities that make BlackBear a better option.
- what local GM tuner? There appear not to be any in rural central texas
- sending files too and from BlackBear does not require me to take time off work...
Yep. My current suspicion is that the BlackBear 'startup tune' for a new cam has the in-drive idle set pretty high. I will be sending them the datalog later today anyways.
So, This past week we did the DOD cam swap on my Tahoe.
lots of hard work but it idles smooth and has a small lope as hoped for.
I used the Comp Cams single bolt cam that keeps the VVT

i totally dropped the ball on this thread!
I wound up buying a Yukon Dura Grip, and its sitting on the table in the garage awaiting install. That whole process was derailed by the sudden death of the AFM lifter on cylinder number 4.
Today we buttoned up the engine with new cam, lifters...
its very clearly described in the initial post. with the diff cover open i can see the slop in the unit. by slop i mean how much the axles will turn indepenently before the helical gears engage with each other. And its not blown. It has worked very nicely for the past 300 thousand miles. Its...
