On some of the models with the 160amp alternator (2pin) there is a system called RVC or regulated voltage control and if the PCM decides that voltage is too much or too little or that more or less can be used to save gas then it is able to control output voltage anywhere from 10.5v-15v as needed.

I run the Pacesetter Ceramic coated Long Tubes on my 05 and I like them. The fitment was great, they actually didnt hit anywhere (they did on my 2wd silverado though). Used the Pacesetter Ypipe with them as well. It flows Great but as stated, it will be much louder.
If Hp tuners will still recognize your PCM still then it can be loaded with a factory tune back into it or if the OS is junk then you can load a NEW OS (operating system). However, the price would be a lot more than just getting a used PCM, assuming the PCM is bad. Pretty good chance you bricked...
