    2005 5.3 Ticking Journey

Answered my own lifter question pretty easily. Got one genuine gm lifter from summit and it's the exact same as the delphi summit brand ones lol. Only the date code is different(and the gm part bag), so save your money and just get the summit(jegs/napa/etc.) ones. They all are from the same...

    Odd 1st to 2nd shifting.

I have a tuner and changed those tcc lockup pwms to all 90s and all 100s. This makes it on-off to keep that tcc check ball from rattling around I've heard. But if you have the harsh 1-2 it's probably too late. My dad's van with a 4l60 has the harsh 1-2 shift and so far only did the fluid +...

    2005 5.3 Ticking Journey

Took her out one last time to run a short errand today, managed to record the sound this time. Mic doesn't hear it as well as I do, but you can hear the scraping sound.

    2005 5.3 Ticking Journey

Reading about what lifters are good and now I'm scared lol, apparently all the aftermarket trays are suspect and lifters on ebay/amazon are 99% fake. I know better than to buy lifters from there but the part I ordered says Delphi and delphi will not warranty any of their ls7 lifters (when they...

GMC 2021 Yukon SD Card and Receptacle Replacement - $1400 an hour in labor?

Nice, welcome to the diy side. I do agree the quote is a scam but there's idiots that pay that which is why they even have the guts to try moves like that. It's really bad in my area, lots of people with more money than brains paying scam rates so they become the norm. There's a scammy shop near...

    Door lock actuator

Fun fact I learned the hard way, I don't have barn doors though. The metal clasp in the door that grabs the hook can get jammed and the door gets stuck so oil that metal clasp. I thought my lift gate was locked, but it was jammed and took a big pull to unstick. The door lock actuators do start...

    2005 5.3 Ticking Journey

Well the sound is louder again after a couple months and 3k miles, it kinda has a chirp or squeak to it now. Stethoscope seems to lead me to lifters. So I've decided to do the heads, cam and lifters, oil pump, timing set and gaskets. Fully aware this work and parts could make no difference in...

    New shocks

The shocks are going to be working overtime without the support of the right springs. The question is how long do you want to thrash your new shocks? It's just the shocks and handling that will suffer. For a week or two until you get some springs I think it will survive.

Did the other side valve cover and checked those rockers too, all seems good. Got the stethoscope and listened around but It's so quiet on 10w40 I can't pinpoint it anywhere, I almost hear it better with my ears than the stethoscope. I think I might go for a strategic "wait and see" approach for...

What can I gain from a tune?

I tuned my part throttle shift speeds up and changed TCC lockup speed and pwm frequency, gained 1MPG (12.5 to 13.5 lol) on my stock 2005 suburban and being in the mountains it's nice that it doesn't keep trying to shift up every time I let off the gas (my main goal of tuning). Trans temps...

    2005 5.3 Ticking Journey

I'm missing the rearmost on the passenger side and front one on driver side, and the sound is intermittent. Kinda 'misses' sometimes on the new 10w40, and I didn't hear it today when I got back. I could be focusing on it too much lol, but I used to hear it bouncing off walls in drive thrus and...

    New guy 05 suburban z71

@B-train It could have been doing it since I got it, I do a fair amount of short trips. And it only really gets audible once it's warmed up. I've made a thread with more details and pics here: https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/2005-5-3-ticking-journey.146182/

    2005 5.3 Ticking Journey

I had noticed this light tapping a few months ago, and I do mean light compared to some of the ones I heard on youtube. I thought it was the oil pickup tube o-ring (oil pressure was about 20 psi hot). I ordered a pan gasket and fel-pro oil pickup tube o-ring from rockauto and did that not very...

    New guy 05 suburban z71

Hey, new to the forum but have been lurking for about a year now. I got my dad's 2005 suburban about a year ago and basically it had sat in a barn for 6 years. 130k miles and shes seen some shit, the reason he parked it was leaky sunroof and some ridiculous quote to fix it. So me and a friend...
