Look at these Dobinson springs (https://baselineoverland.com/products/dobinsons-2-lift-rear-coils-for-gm-2007-on-with-660-880-lb-constant-load-c09-037) on that same website. They appear to be somewhat stiffer. Think I'm going to add a pair plus some new air bags after towing the trailer this...
Coming late to the party but I'll second the Bilstein 5100s. Put them on my 2011 along with the Moog 81069s in the rear with Air Lift bags for towing. That said - this caught my eye the other day...
I'm curious about whether the 'Burb rolled or not. If it did, that's a strong passenger/cargo area. We rolled an International Travelall and a 30 ft Holiday Rambler trailer back in 1971 on the way to a summer in Boston. Some dude who'd driven all night fell asleep at the wheel, hit the rear of...
Visited L.A. one time with my wife to visit a friend of hers. Other than the Ansel Adams exhibit at the museum near the LaBrea Tarpits, I decided we should put a 12' tall razor-barbed chain link fence around the whole place and declare it the United States National Zoo. I've yet to witness...
Thanks, the lift works well and doesn't require any additional kit. I'm mostly running BLM roads out west or NFS roads around Tellico. Burbs are a little too big for hardcore off-roading, especially for those of us who use them as daily drivers so 32" or 33" tires seem to be a good compromise...
Likewise! I'm patiently waiting for the engine to dump itself so I can drop in a non-DOD replacement. It'll probably happen next summer in Nowhere, Nebraska while we're running the Oregon Trail.
Doing fine so far with a bit over 1000 miles on it. Haven't pulled anything yet but that will happen soon as I get some battery and solar mods done on the trailer. After that, I'll change out the fluid and filter at 275,000 along with everything else underneath.
Howdy AU. I'm just up the road in Chattanooga. Spent four years at Browns Ferry NP in the 80s; I remember a catfish farm & restaurant just outside Cullman where we used to take the GE nuke reps for dinner. They had a killer price for a pound of boiled shrimp as I remember.
Anyway, there are a...
Good find on those rims. I've got the same set and am looking for a fifth for the spare. Can't find diddly around here on Craigslist. May have to break down and use fassbook.
That's the exact size I'm running with General Grabber A-TXs. I do have an approximate 2" lift as a result of removing the air ride shocks and replacing with Bilstein 5100 shocks all around and Moog 81069 springs in the rear. No issues at all.
6L80 in a 2011 Suburban. Purchased truck at 231,000 miles, only records I got with the truck indicate second owner flushed it at 131,600 miles as part of a $3k full service which included new engine mounts (ouch...). I've got 272,000 on the truck now, which includes over 15,000 miles towing a...
I was wondering about those springs, Dustin. Don't have need for them yet, but if I add a metal bumper of some kind, I will want the extra capacity then. Good to know about them not compressing enough.
Bob
Hi OY. My 2011 Suburban setup is pretty close to Dustin's but there is a difference. I found I didn't need the lift kit with the Bilstein 5100s all around and the Moog 81069 Rear springs as that setup alone gave me a couple of inches of lift front and rear. The 81069s are 2" longer than your...
I used a competing product - PaintScratch.com's two step clear coat process years ago when I was repairing my Miata's front bumper cover after an, ahhhh, argument with a dirt bank over on the Dragon. While I never got the hang of the clear-coat process, the base color matched the rest of the car...
