Well, it is a PPV and they had shorter springs if memory serves and time has likely shrunk them down at least a little.

The springs have more than enough room to be removed without disconnecting the shocks or the sway-bar which seems odd to me.

Those are some decent front strut spacers, much nicer than those bottom mounted spacers. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a spacer...
