May 6.2 Died in a similar manner with wife and 4 kids in the car. Just got it back up with a new motor and my fingers crossed. Total down time about 4-weeks.
Back to the L87 discussion…
My replacement 6.2 expected in early next week and truck ready end of week. Told most replacement engines dealer is seeing are remanufactured these days so fingers crossed I get a good one.
With 10yr/150k warranty on the bottom end how worried is everyone about DFM...
Nothing in oil or oil filter that was suspicious over the years with my 6.2 and it never needed to be topped off between oil changes.
I thought it was one of the good ones until it wasn’t…
Mine is third in line at my dealer for a new motor and humorously, the ETA for my motor is April Fools...
LMAO, the eta on the replacement motor for my Tahoe is April Fools Day.
For those who’ve have been through engine replacement does reaching out to GM customer service achieve anything??
2022 Tahoe High Country
Passed Pico test last fall. (About 48k miles)
Died this past Tuesday with about 58k miles.

Glad to hear you are off to a good start with the new motor.
My 6.2 died yesterday on the highway and awaits diagnosis at a dealer before they order a new motor for it.
To get them to address on pre 2025 Vs you will need to get other pre 2025 V owners to join your cause.
In the meantime, I suggest you just put yours in gear right after it starts and it will drop down to about 1000 rpm which is quieter than the typical cold start high idle.
