    2002 Escalade engine knock/tap?

200,000 miles, so it’s got some wear. It’s been lasting longer and longer- the noise only really goes away after longer trips or above 2500 RPM. If I haven’t driven it for a few hours it’s pretty loud. It sounds like its low and towards the passenger side of the engine. Sent from my...

    2002 Escalade engine knock/tap?

Yeah it does up with RPM. Idle it’s a touch over 40. I just meant solid in that it should be ok, it’s not abnormally low from what I can see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    2002 Escalade engine knock/tap?

My Escalade’s been making this sound when it’s first started up. It’s been getting progressively worse, but goes away at high RPM. I’m thinking it could be a lifter, or maybe flexplate issues? Really hoping it’s not something more serious. Anyone know what it might be for sure? Oil pressure...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Haha yeah that was a month ago, but In MO that could mean anything from 70 to 25 and snowy. Unfortunately got option B that day. It’s been staying around 55 and rainy these days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Started replacing the sway bar bushings up front with energy suspension. Got part of the way through and went inside to thaw out from being in the driveway.

Beginning rebuild on Escalade LQ9 motor

I had the option, but would have had to pay the core charge in order to keep the old motor. I was tempted, but ultimately saved the cash to put back into the truck in other areas. Plus my garage is pretty short on space as it is.

Beginning rebuild on Escalade LQ9 motor

Going to go ahead and continue fixing up the Escalade. New engine runs like a champ (and actually better than the old one..) . My guess is the valves needed adjustment before one finally let go, because this engine is much smoother. Our mechanic replaced all of the engine gaskets before...

Beginning rebuild on Escalade LQ9 motor

Well, slight update/change of plans for this one. I still might be rebuilding this engine, but, we were able to track down a junkyard LQ9 that is getting swapped in for the foreseeable future. Engine has 50k less miles than on the old one, and I have a fairly short commute so it should last a...

    Brett's 2004 Escalade 6.0 AWD build

Yeah, I’m kind of in the same spot with mine. I have a car already so I don’t need to tune it. BUT, it’s kinda hard to browse Summit and not want to buy speed parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Brett's 2004 Escalade 6.0 AWD build

Oh man, tough call between the Escalade upgrades and a project car. It’d be pretty sweet to get an old interceptor and make a sleeper out of it. Or LS-swapped third gen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Beginning rebuild on Escalade LQ9 motor

Yeah, it’s wd-40 “blue flame” or something like that. Supposedly it breaks through rust better. I’m just worried about snapping the bolts off, but I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Beginning rebuild on Escalade LQ9 motor

Trying to figure out the best way to unbolt the heads from the y pipe underneath. The bolts are pretty well seized, so I don’t think there’s going to be an easy way. Debating right now if I want to invest in a torch, or just stick a 1/2” impact gun on it and hope for the best. I soaked them...

Beginning rebuild on Escalade LQ9 motor

Definitely. I’ve seen people just hook a chain to the block/heads, but this seems like a better route. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Beginning rebuild on Escalade LQ9 motor

Weather is getting straight unpredictable here. 70 and sunny one day then cold and rainy the next. Haven’t been able to work on the truck much but figured I’d show my handiwork so far. I don’t think I’ve shared any pics of the outside, so here’s a couple. It’s actually a 2001.5 model...

Nice! I think the LQ4s are more common, and can be had for a bit less from what I hear. Only difference is dished pistons instead of flat-tops. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
