So I want to do something a little bit different, I want to try and use my factory low beams in my Hoe for my DRL's but in the high beam location but at night when I want my regular headlights on I want to use HID's in the factory low beam location, and for high beams, I want all for to come on, I guess I would need to do the 4-hi mod, but modify that to work how I want it to, I don't think it would be too complicated but im no wiring genius, has anyone else ever done this mod before??

So you want the high beams to be the DRLs because you are putting HIDs in the low beams?

What year is your truck ??

91-99 section
DRLs 96+

Easy enough to assume the OP has a 96-99.

Yea, I want to use factory low beam bulbs for my DRL's, but when I actually turn on my headlights for nighttime driving I want to use HIDS, and when I want high beams they all come on, but I want my HIDs to be in the lowbeam location...idk maybe its just a pipedream the way I want them to work....

No that wouldn't be too hard it would just be a mess of wiring and fitment.

The DRL bulb reflector wasn't designed to light up the road so that part of your plan is pretty pointless.
If you want to do it it's gonna be a pain to get your low beam to fit into the DRL.
But to do what you want you're gonna have to do the 4-Hi mod then run a positive wire from the hi beam to the DRL with a resistor so that the hi beam doesn't go on when your DRL comes on during the day

Its not gonna be a good move bro. Get aftermarket projectors for. A better beam pattern. But as for wiring it should br fairly easy. I havnt done it so wouldnt know

Don't buy after market projector housings it'll make your night vision worse.
The only way to really upgrade your night sight is to
A. Get a real retrofit using high quality parts.
B. Get high quality HIDs below 8k meaning 4300k 5000k or 6000k from somewhere reputable like theretrofitsource.com
C. Get a bulb like a silverstar ultra in your low and high beams and do the 4-Hi

Option C would really be best probably.

no your not the only one, I know it too, that's why I was wanting to do this kind of mod....
What if I simply put the DRL's in the high beam location, and the HIDs in the low beam location, and when its nighttime I can just pull the lever for the high beams but its really the HID's???

You can't just "put the DRLs in the high beams" the DRL IS the Low beams. You need cut the wires off at the DRL relay and run new wires to the high beams.

I know, I want to leave them as the DRL's but put them in the high beam location in the headlight, no rewiring needed, just have to make them fit in the socket, same for the high beam socket...

What purpose does that serve?

If you want HID high beams just get them no need for all this flip flop stuff.

that makes no sense, you want to drill a hole and add another bulb to the high beam housing?

He said earlier he wants his low beam bulb in the high beam housing and an HID in his low beam housing and when he clicked on the high beams he wants the HID to come on.
Which is completely retarded.

think what you want, I just don't want to use HID's for my DRL's, I drive a lot during the day and I don't want to wear them out....

You probably have a DRL fuse just pull it.
No more DRLs and no HID issues.
