Wiper trying to wipe side window

during monsoon, my driver side windshield wiper made a pop noise and the became stuck half onto the driver door window. Pushes it back to normal position, tried wipers, it wiped twice and now doesn't move. Haven't run accross any threads about this, is it common? Is it likely the motor, some controller, linkage or maybe stripped out? Are there two separate motors or one common to both wipers? The passenger side wiper works fine still. Thanks

Somehow the nut for loose. Not sure if they are splines or what, put it back on, tightened the hell out of it and it's working so far
