so apparently new body Z71s can run 35s with small life and just some minor trimming due to their front bumper. Is anyone aware of what’s physically different about that bumper? From pictures, it looks different from the front, but what’s going on in the wheel well?

There is no air dam on the new Z71 bumper, and it has tow hooks and a skid plate. Also, the steps are different, giving more clearance at the back of the wheelwell. Here's a comparison: 2018 Tahoe Z71 vs. 2018 Tahoe. The lack of air dam and lack of the big plastic piece for the stock steps should help it fit 33s on a level, but I don't see a difference in the wheelwell width above that. I think you'd need at least 4" and some plastic trimming to fit 35s on a Z71.
