Transfer case Install Question

ok everyone, first time installing an transfer case and I'm got a couple of questions.

1. the case is in gear right now uninstalled. should I attempt to take it our prior to install, or, install it hook up the electronics, then check lights and switches and put back into 2H after installed.
2. what's the official GM spec fluid I should use
3. should I install it and then fill fluid or fill fluid before installation

remove motor and set the position electronically thru system to match the new case then install for good.
