My buddy's 2012 Tahoe stereo is dead. The dealer wants $800 or so for a new one with installation. What's the cheapest way to get a replacement radio? We've found some on eBay for $250 or so. As long as we replace it with an identical model, how hard can it be to install a new one?

I've got a stock one I'll see for $100 shipped. Is this the correct model?

That looks like it. Did you take that one out and go aftermarket?

4 screws and radio slides right out. unplug antenna, and tywo big ass plugs.

Toss dead radio to side OR Resell it if the face and buttons are not scratched up.

Grab new radio, plug the stuff back on, slide it in. Zip the screws back in, pop panel back on.

Done.. its a less than 5 min job.

Pro tip. put E brake on and put gear snifter down in 1st to make it WORLDS easier to get panel off.
once its loose. rotate the top of panel towards your face, it will come right on out with almost no hassle. install it reverse of removal.
And don't get all yank yank happy when popping it loose, its not your "tool".
work slowly around its edges. it will pop off nice and easy.
