so i am curious, my friend says if i remove my cats will this be the best improvement(power and mileage wise) i can do for cheap? i know it will set off cel but is it smart? on my 01 silverado i put high flow cats on i never really noticed anything and it cost like $440 and being as i am a starving student i would rather spend that money a bb tune

most cats are relatively high flow now... if it was a 1980 model, I'd say hellz yeah. these puppies? no. all you will really get is louder.
Psycoacoustical studies tell us that our brains interpret more noise as 'faster' even if it really no improvement or a loss of performance, which explains a LOT of questionable mods.

it also makes your car smell like it needs a tune-up, badly.
