radio on the fritz

Hey guys im new here. Hows it going? Need some help my radio whenever I first start my 96 tahoe it'll turn up outrageous loud then drop down suddenly to where its barely audible. Everything is stock head unit and all speakers. Please ideas or suggestions

Sounds like the head unit's volume control is going south. Does the volume work normally after that? Try another head unit, OEM, or aftermarket. I bet the issue with go away.
