Proper AC PSI on 95 4x4 tahoe with only frt AC

Also Apprx. what should be the lapse between compressor kicking on and off?
Mine Reads 40 PSI and 5 seconds later compressor kicks on and brings it down to 30 and 5 secs later shuts off and so on.

exact pressure is hard to get but your system sounds right on at 5 second intervals especially if you burn yourself touching the high pressure side of the compressor.
