Went to the dealership on 7/18 for their oil change special. About 45 min later I check in to see if they were done and the service advisor said the tech was taking care of a recall. I was not aware there was a recall - no letter or other communication.

Today we left on vacation and about an hour in I scrolled the display to the economy section. It was on V8. Watched it for the rest of the drive, slow/fast/hills/etc and it stayed on V8 the entire time. Last time I checked this was last week and V4 was active.

Is there a recall on this model that would affect this, or is GMC just reprogramming to delete V4 mode? Or…?

Did you ask them what the recall was and why they did it without asking you first?

Look at your service ticket and receipt paperwork for your last visit that has the oil change and recall on it. There should be a recall number and/or description of the recall they performed.

I highly doubt any recall performed at a dealer would deactivate AFM.

Left a message for the service advisor and haven’t heard back. Will check paperwork and call again on Monday. Did another 100+ miles today and still no V4 at any t8me. This could be good, right?

Very good indeed I would say. As long as it was only a software flash

I have no idea why you are even calling them. You are Blessed and do not know it.

Anyone on this forum would love to have no V4 mode after a oil change at the dealer. Not one of them would complain.

I would either do the litter removal because when the lifters are going back and forth from v4 to v8 mode they are functioning. There are members on forums that still have lifter failure with the range device.
