My catch can came the other day and of course, as always, i wasn't there..... I walk into the house later and my fatherinlaw says, you got some packages i put them over there.....all loud and shit.....there were 3-4 packages...i saw them in my garage when i pulled in and I automatically knew i was gonna hear it......she looked at me after his comment and if looks could kill.....shit, i would have been dead years ago.....this time however.....lol... I ordered some hair and nail vitamins crap for her and a few tune up parts for my fil and bil mowers so I automatically said.... that was quick, 'YOUR vitamins and YOUR fathers lawn mower parts are here'..... then i quick went out and hid the catch can......

As promised, here is the installation of the catch can...

I started with purchasing this can off of Ebay.

and I could have saved a few dollars because after I received it, I realized that it was probably the same can as the cheaper ones that look just like it, minus the bracket to mount to the passenger side cylinder head. ( which I ended up not using ).

20oz. Coke for size reference. As pictured there was no baffles or anything on the inside.

I removed the aluminum hose fittings, they were metric threads and I tapped the holes out to 3/8" NPT so that I could install brass fittings.

Here is the brass fittings installed, I kept adjusting the depth of the tapping process to get the fittings clocked together and deep enough to hide the threads.

I went to Walmart and got my baffle and filter supplies.

I used the grill topper as a screen/filter housing. By cutting it and a few folds, I created "legs" to hold it up from the bottom.

I cut the scotchbrite to fit and I ended up using 3 layers. The notch is for the down tube on the inlet side of the can. It extended below the filter.20170520_141415.jpg

I used some 1/4" hose for the tube as my surplus copper tubing was the wrong diameter to fit the fittings.

Here it is put back together. I ended up changing the bracket when I went to install. I was going to mount it to the brake booster but I decided that it was too close to the exhaust for my liking.

I cut the plastic PCV tubing right at the bend

Picked up 2 pcs of 3/8" hose 4 foot length.

Now I spent several minutes deciding on where I was going to mount it. I ended up with a decision to mount it on the side of the fender over the empty battery tray.

I used self tapping screws to mount the other bracket to the inner fender.

And here it is all buttoned up.

I am using black tape to keep the hoses organized but I am searching for some of those black plastic heater hose supports that was on my 99 burb. Those would be the perfect look for this application.

It came out really good. What was the purpose for putting the rubber hose on the inside? Just curious. Great job.

To get the incoming air below the filter media. As the other side pulls the vacuum above the filter media. That way it's filtered before returning into the intake.
