So having gone the Spyder route the last few years, I just got sick of the poor visibility in rain. I picked up some chromed OEM type assemblys, and threw in some H9 bulbs instead of H11 (a trick we used on wifes old Traverse that made huge difference). Kicks ass in these too. I have included shots of h9 vs hid in spyder projector, h9 vs h11, 2 h9, the difference in bulbs (h9 has extra tab you got to shave off), and image of $5 h9 package. Forget silverstars - just put in H9s...f461ae69db824594801fc59b7004a34e.jpg30d47bc95206b83161028c187af507ba.jpgd77234fe08ae9315b738f26a96da2369.jpg03cf72359a13499e8cf73b9be6e678e1.jpg2768a150a13d35b2db0ab2ac30c73f5a.jpg

I plan on rebuilding those Spyders with REFLECTORS for a change. Loved the plasma but just couldnt take the crappy projector output. I figure I could do a H9 reflector rebuild for pennies on the dollar...

Them 10 extra watts makes a nice difference. Thanks for sharing your findings.

Does the extra wattage cause any ill effects, like on the wiring or sockets?

Short answer: No. The high beams are 65 watt and they're fed by the same gauge wiring as the low beams and the plugs and sockets are all the same material.

Long answer: See inmypassatlife's reply. Now I have another small-but-useful project added to my list. lol
