So I was losing a lot of oil from the back of my motor coming down off the trans bell housing. Got a trans jack at harbor freight for 80 bucks.

So I changed the rear main seal. Along with the oil pan gasket and trans fluid filter.

But I noticed that the oil leak did slow now I was leaking off my starter bolts and ever so slightly (runoff) passenger side bell housing. So I decided to investigate further.
And this is what I saw.

So I knew what had to be done......Felpro gasket set seemed like the only rational decision. Haha.

Also did a new knocker install on was looking pretty hosed and I was already there.

Along with a oil pressure switch, pcv valve, radiator garden hose flush. Seafoam tomorrow throw the manifold back on on an update soon.

You have no idea especially for a first time mechanic. Drove her around all day today no leaks.

That's some work. I have to do the valve cover gaskets on mine. Leaking a bit from the back. Are you happy with the felpro vc gaskets? Did you just clean and install the gaskets and that's it or did you add a rtv type sealer? Thanks and welcome to the site.

Very happy with the Felpro I chose not to use an RTV and a little piece of advice there's a cover plate under your intake where the knock sensors are do that gasket and the intake gasket. Took me two days to do all (not full days).

Where was the top leak from? Oil pressure sensor? Also, did you do the main seal on jack stands or did you have access to a lift? The first pic looks like jack stands...would not have thought to do that job on jack stands.

Although it may have been leaking with all the shit at the front of the motor too it was probably a couple of different leaks

With a Haynes, common sense, and a little patience very do-able job.

I had the knock sensors and intake gasket changed a few months back so I just need to change the vc gaskets. My daughters birthday sleepover is this weekend so I'll be busy but hopefully I pick the gaskets up soon and get it done. Great work on everything.

I plan on doing the same things, but I can't find the damn parts to do so! My local stores are weak so I was hoping you obtained them through online resources, haha. IF so, where?

But mostly, thanks for an excellent post. Very informative and organized. Gives me hope, I'm not a first time mechanic but this is my first time balls deep in a domestic ogre. Love me a Haynes manual!

Thanks in advance!
