ok i have a 96 tahoe 4dr 4wd and it has a slight knock not bad but noticeble ok i wanna put a 406 big block or maybe a 383 what mods would i have to do or any suggestions on what to do

383 will drop right in.

Prob will want to beef up trans. in process.

If you decide to have one built, I can tell you where not to get it.

ok ill be sure to look into the HT383E drop in i have an old 350 in the shed which would be best rebuild da 350 or jus buy a 383 crate engine

HT383E if you have the money is not a bad option. The only change that NEEDS to be made and I do not care what GM says is a custom tune. I run the HT383E in mine and I have been very pleased with it.

Yeah do a HT383E its gonna be your best option, no modifying its a direct bolt in just need the tune like Bowtiefreak says. When I do the 4L80E transmission, I'm gonna do an LQ4 swap. I can't wait.

FYI, 406 is a small block as well.

I agree, if you want simplicity, and a warranty, the GM 383 is a direct swap.
