Been chasing down a wierd rattling noise on my Tahoe. I thought for sure it was a Ujoint..
Was playing in the snow a few days ago and smacked something underneath the truck on a curb. Ever since then I've been hearing it. So here's my question, are the rear shafts on these trucks internally balanced? After putting the truck up on the lift the rattling is coming from the inside of the shaft near the differential.. I'm wondering if I knocked the balance weight off, if its on the inside?
While watching it spin you can see it off balance.. Causing my drive line vibrations (which was why I was thinking u joints; I had a shop inspect the u joints and they were fine) and I guess it also caused my pinion seal to start leaking.
Any input fellas?
