I havent tried to take off the chrome yet, I want to but I havent looked to see if I can jus ttake off the chrome and leave the rest of the trim on the doors. are they seperate?

Yes your side molding is in two pieces, but you can't take the chrome off and leave the plastic as the two pieces interlock ... they have to come off together.

You can replace them with the plain plastic moldings of the base Tahoe or de-mold all together.

Btw, if you take those off carefully without damaging them or bending them, there's usually someone here willing to purchase them from you, and then you can use those funds to buy the plain ones.
