Like you, I like to keep things original. When my compressor went out, I bit the bullet and purchased a complete set of factory replacement shocks for my 2002 Yukon XL, along with the compressor. Spent a pretty penny. After installing them, I still wasn't satisfied, so I bit another bullet and decided to replace the system with conventional shocks. So I have a barely used set of (2) factory replacement rear shocks and (2) factory replacement electronically dampening shocks that I need to sell. Will take $200 for set of rears, $200 for front set. Let me know if interested.

Rip it out and put bilsteins or whichever shock you prefer. Buy a helper bags for the rear for when towing ($100 a kit , can install in driveway)
Call it a day.
