880 HID fogs wont emit much light from housing

help!!..i just bought 880 HID fog light bulbs and balast and when istalled,the light is very very bright looking at it but when it comes to seeing the road,it does absolutelty nothing at all.the light is more spread out then focused on the ground and i also noticed that when i line the stock bulb and the HID bulb that the HID bulb is a hair shorter than the stock bulb. CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIX THIS ISSUE!

That's just the way fogs are in these SUVs.

They just 'look' cool when it comes to these fogs. I have some, and the light output is better than stock, but not by much.

i dont see how its much different that the stock other than it being hids.i only noticed the hids are a tad shorter and maybe thats doing it but if thsts the case is there a way to mod it so it sits in more?

Best option is throw a projector in there. P1's off ebay will do great pretty cheap too.

You can retro a true HID light into the opening and that will give you better output. I have PIAA HID fogs and they are bright but it is a full assy. Soulsea disk a great write up about LED Vs HID write up with some good info. Old adage you get what you pay for.

I've noticed your round style puts out alot more light than the square style in my Yukon or in Silverados. I have hids in my fogs, its the only type of light that somewhat illuminates the road. They do a decent job of lighting up directly infront of the truck. Maybe try angling the fog light down more. Its never gonna put out a beam of light, but it should pickup everything behind the low beams.

its not the housing but the actual design of hid bulbs..they spread out the light everywhere instead of focused on one spot this is why HID kits look soo bright and blind people at night because they are just shooting light everywhere..this is why many people do a projector retrofit
