I’ve been trying to find a trans shop that is familiar with the 8l90 for about 2 years.

I’m in the east bay area of California

No one.

SoCal yes, but that’s a 14 hour drive each way.

Can anyone recommend a shop in the Bay Area? My 2015i has a 2nd gear flare when it’s cold and the shutter.
44k on the clock.

It needs to be gone through. I figured a converter and a rebuilt trans. I don’t want any more issues and I want to be able to run 35’s off-road eventually.
Wow, that's odd...I would think any trans shop could simply swap in a reman unit...Many of the transmission shops in Vegas don't even bother rebuilding later model units, they just buy a reman for about 50-60% of retail, sell it at retail along with the R/R on top and make a tidy profit. If the trans has issues, the reman company pays the trans shop to pull it out and install a replacement.

Yea. Sadly no one wants to deal with the serial numbers of the parts (I’m super tired, I can’t remember the parts name) that has to be updated in the tcm or what ever it is with the trans swap.

I’ve even contacted some of the rebuilt trans companies that do up rated transmissions, asking them if they have a dealer here they can recommend.

Nothing.

Someone recommended a shop up past Lincoln ca (past Sacramento) about 2 hrs away.

But I need to drive out, leave the truck for a day, drive back. Then make plans.

Sometimes it’s hard to spend money lol.

I’m just too broken and disabled to swap the trans myself. I’m achey as can be when I swap shocks and arms.
Too much metal inside me now.

Are there any other 8l90 rebuilt transmissions and converters that are recommended for “off-roading”? Over landing really.

My prerunner has an 8l45 so that will event need something done to it as well. That trans was tuned with 3k miles and I have had almost no issues with it.
