So I sold the hoe and am sad to see it go. The transmission went and I decided it was time to let it go (yes the new owner knows). So I found a new truck that is smaller and better on gas. Its a 1998 s10 4.3 4wd 5 speed. It has a problem though the truck will start up fine sometimes and run...
I have a 96 that wouldn't go in 4wd at all ended up replacing everything from the switch back including the t case switch, wiring harness and actuator. I would start at the actuator because its the most common and cheapest.
So the Tahoe has been sitting in the yard for a few months due to bad transmission and the 02 sensors. I will have some cash flowing in from taxes soon and believe I will have the money to bring it back to life. I was just wondering how much I'm looking at for a junkyard trans and how hard is...
okay thanks. I just called the guy and left a message hopefully it will work out so I can drive the tahoe again insted of my sisters annoying explorer.
Will a 1997 tahoe transmission fit a 1996. I have a chance to grab one for 200 bucks and mine just gave out. I hate to sell the hoe i love the old girl but cant afford the 1800 for a rebuild.
thanks...
You could always run the codes in the glove box of the donor (if its still there) to find the gear ratio. Its gona be indestructible after that, I blew the spider gears on my tahoe scary ride when its missing teeth just barley made it back home. I just threw yukon gears in it. Tahoe's should...
yeah I just put in new used leafs on the passenger side, which I thought the squeak was coming from and it didn't stop. Oh yeah and I was kinda pissed I had to drive really far to get u bolts, NO ONE on Cape Cod stocks them not even the Chevy dealers.
nope their also new, but keep the suggestions coming. Possibly sway bar end links?
Also anyone know how to stop the lose change sound in the dash? It seems like every piece of plastic in my truck rattles when i go over bumps, but I didn't buy it for the interior.
It does it when i slow down most of the time, also over bumps some times so thats what I was also thinking. I have to replace mine anyway because half of two are missing on my passenger side.
Anyone know what the annoying squeak coming from the rear of my tahoe is? It isn't U joints their brand new, also not the rear hatch since I have barn doors. thanx
Yeah i heard that, i good with cars but if u don't set them right u can end up destroying everything in dif. I can't wait to get it done so i can drive normal again.
I know in MA if you have commercial plates or a lift you need flaps, I have a really loud exhaust but the cops can't do anything because it passed inspection so everything is street legal, as long as my sticker is current I'm set. I don't have a problem with cops their just doing their job. Plus...
I just ordered a new set of spider gears because somehow i managed to destroy mine. How much should I expect for an install? one of the grease monkeys at the shop tried to tell me a grand with parts (which seems high because I got the gears for $70 shipped) Also whats the torque specs for the u...
Cracked open the dif cover today to find a bunch of metal shaving and three broken teeth and 1 not looking so good.
Gona do an axle swap any suggestions plus how much does a used 10 bolt run ant a junkyard. Also found that a huge chunk of leaf spring is missing...great...
I just embarrassed a guy in a civic on my way home. He was driving stupid weaving in and out of people. we pulled up to a stop sign and he tried to pass me on the right, i stomped on it and smoked him. I was stopping at all the stop signs while he wans't and still got to the end of the road...
Just under the hood, noticed I don't have a distributor. Its a 1996, it has a newer 5.7 350 crate motor. Can u upgrade to coils or am i just overlooking the distributor. The ignition wires run to a pack behind the throttle body.
