Truck came with a full tank.
Salesman told me not to waste money on high octane fuel.
Filled up with 87 octane but noticed the sticker on the gas flap said to use high octane fuel.
?????
Driving up a steep hill today with 1/4 tank left...the truck goes into reduced engine powered warning and the check engine light comes on!
I'm driving up the hill full throttle at 30 mph with a line of traffic behind.

Read the manual- check the cap, and then go to get some 93 octane.

Fill the tank and literally the warning lights go out and all is normal.

Wow!

Very funny NOT well now you know you don't need to run 93 octane but I would run 89 octane at a minimum. Engines are tuned to run different octane and the 6.2 is designed for high octane putting lower grade fuel in the engine increases carbon this affects the spark in the combustion chamber which causes knock decreased fuel economy and affects performance. You can use have premium half low grade fuel but all that does is make the octane 89 so it's easier to just use the better fuel. I would complain to the dealer maybe they would credit you some fuel

I find it funny when people use 87, they all say the same thing.
"It saves me money".
No, it doesnt, it costs 10x the amount of money when the engine craps out due to the massive amounts of detonation it will have.

Never run that grade in anything that you care about.

Is the method of rating octane the same as it is in the US it might say 75 octane and in the US it might equate to 105 octane I'm just saying

I had a Chevy Tahoe 2012 LTZ the dealer told me to put 95 octane, when I purchased Yukon 2015 S LT the dealer told me to put 91 I was surprised. But soon I heard something slapping in the engine. Took it to thee dealer, they did not have any idea. Did a research on the Internet there is bulletin for k2xx models to use highest octane available. Now I put 95 slapping gone .
P.s I live in Saudi
