hey guys im sure this has been asked before but had no luck in finding an answer, im purchasing a set of long tube headers, they come with reducers that drop down to 2.5 in outlet, i have the stock pipes on my truck right now minus the cats...would it be better too try a 2.5 in y pipe or a different type of pipe setup back to the muffler i want. it will have 2.25 in dual outlets i just dont want to sacrifice low end torque with too big of exhaust. i dont want to make the wrong choice on exhaust.. already dealing with leaks with the pipes i put in for the cats. any help in the right direction would be awesome.

I'm running the pacesetter headera stock Y pipe, and magnaflow hi flows with 2 1/2 in dual in dual out super 40s. Sounds great and plenty of low end torque

My headers are different than yours (Thorley Tri-Ys), but I'm running dual 2.5" from the collectors to the muffler inlets and single 3.5" outlet. Plenty of torque across the rpm band.

Edit:
I'm running MagnaFlow 2.5" cats and a MagnaFlow mandrel bent cat-back (dual 2.5" inlets, single 3.5" outlet).

i finally got the headers repainted with hi temp paint. i was thinking of a off road y pipe to a single inlet 2.5 then dual 2.25 out the back since the pipe is already there from my last setup. i think the stock pipe from the manifolds down to the mufflers are like 1 7/8 maybe 2??? should have the exhaust setup up and running with in a few weeks. ill have to post a sound video, im using a thrush welded $36 dollar muffler.. sounds just like the original 40 series FM but half the price.
